First all all, welcome to the forum chappster! The home form has let us down massively this season. At the end of the day, most of those games we haven't really deserved to win. The Fulham game for example is one that we were very poor and didn't deserve anything in my opinion. Other games, Sunderland & Norwich for example, we haven't taken the chances we created. Had a penalty in the Sunderland game and had many chances in the Norwich game. That's our problem and I don't think we can say we deserve to win those games. Taking chances is so important in football and we haven't. Let's be honest, it can't get much worse at home next season... Can it?!
Thanks for the welcome!! This is where my optimism comes in for next season, surely we cant be the same next season other KK won't last long.
Chris, i don't accept your argument that " most of those games we haven't really deserved to win." Certainly, the object of the game is to put the ball in the net and we have failed to do that enough times. However, in those games we have created a multitude of chances and hit the woodwork a staggering number of times. In the majority of our home games we have dominated the opposition. I strongly doubt thatwe will see anotherseason in which the quality of our play goes so unrewarded.
Welcome to the site The main issue here is that other clubs in a similar position could possibly be saying exactly the same. It simply comes down to the fact we haven''t been good enough over the course of the season. Sorry to put a downer on your welcome party, but I'm afraid they're the cold hard facts!
There were other games at home where we could have got more. United and Arsenal both scored late goals against us. Still, it's easy to think, or even expect that things will be different next season, but I really doubt that. The pressure of Anfield is too much for the majority of our squad at the moment and they will need time. Without a summer of serious spending which is very unlikely, (Despite what the WUM will tell you, our owners have a pretty low net spend), we're going to be in a very similar position this time next season.
I take comfort from the fact that so may teams came and parked the bus. they are all still so scared of us, that they can't even set-up to play football against us. Couple that with the fact that our midfield and attack had not played together and were all still learning about each other. More recent matches have given me far more hope for next season with a change or two in the squad. I don't think we are too far away.
