When the game started I was telling myself Holland are kind of like Arsenal, play great football, create chances, but fail to convert them. And then Denmark scored, and the rest is history as they say. A very typicalisque Arsenal performance.
The manager bottled it. to start both Van Bommel and De Jong against the Danes? this is the team he should have tried to go all out for the win against as he wont be able to do that with the other two...but now he has no choice but to try to get a win in one out of the two matches probably. he played VDV in all the qualifiers but then bottled it in the first game of the tourno..playing to not lose as oppose to trying to win...they obviously cant park the bus as well as chelsea. poor do by the gaffer...De Jong is no footballer.
Robben pisses me off so much, he thinks he is this footballing god, but all he does is hog the ball and miss vital opportunities
Re: the qualifiers. Do you know which country were the top scorers? Which country the top scorer played for? Which country put together the most passes? Which country had a 100% record up to the last qualifying match? Which country won 11-0 in one match? Which country had the only player to score a treble in an away game? There's a lot more, but you get the point I hope... Your attempted attack on AFC is both pointless & ridiculous.
Interesting - me and 'er indoors often say much the same. Its all show and little delivery. Overrated.
But this is the point isn't it, the qualifiers were to get you to the tournament itself and when you get there you set up negatively (2 DMs) and ultimately do an "Arsenal". The qualifiers are against dross mostly. And we can't forget the World Cup in 2010. Holland battered their qualifying group and were good until the final where they changed tactics and went for rugby instead of football. They have only themselves to blame for not winning last night, it is Arsenal all over again. But then, you'd rather have all the possession and shots than not having them, the key is to learn from this mistake - where Arsenal keep doing the same thing over and over, maybe Holland will actually learn from this.
I hear you loud and clear HH. I was just making my stand against a totally uncalled for attack on the AFC. The team will give us all genuine reason/s to have a pop without our having to go to the trouble of creating crap about them
