Apparently signed for Borussia Mochengladbach according to a load of german newspapers on twitter for CL football Not sure whether its a good or bad move
Its a strange one to say the least. Champions league football though and the Bubdesliga is creeping up on the epl and la liga
My local club when I lived in Germany. 18month ago they were 2nd bottom of league and appointed the ex-manager of Switzerland and took off from there. If Hoilett is destined for them then their player Reuss must be on way in a big money move.
Great move for him -Big crowds -Champions league football -Low tax -High wages -Good set of players -Nice place to live
he went on loan to a couple of German clubs from Blackburn so I cant see the country being a problem for him. SC Paderborn 07 ST Pauli
Agree with this. We don't really stand a great chance with players when up against a side like that. The German league isn't poor by any standards. There are some very good teams about.
SUNDERLAND’S hopes of tempting Junior Hoilett to the Stadium of Light this summer could be scuppered by German giants Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bundesliga side can offer the out-of-contract Blackburn Rovers star Champions League football next season. And if that bait proves enough to tempt the exciting attacking utility player, Hoilett will disappoint a host of interested Premier League sides, including Sunderland. Relegated Rovers themselves will hope Hoilett decides to stay in England because they will receive a much smaller compensation package should he move abroad. Under the terms of the Bosman ruling, English clubs hoping to sign the Canadian would have to either agree a fee with Rovers or go to a tribunal because he is under the age of 24. But foreign clubs just have to pay a pre-determined Fifa training fee to Rovers for Hoilett’s development and that is likely to be less than £1m. The word from the continent is that Monchengladbach are confident Hoilett will agree a four-year contract with them. But Sunderland are very keen on the 21-year-old and will fight all the way for a player who the club believes could massively increase the squad’s attacking options – which remains the close season’s top priority for the Black Cats. Hoilett is no stranger to German football, having previously had loan spells with Paderborn and St Pauli, and his younger brother, Jaineil, also plays in the country for Mainz’s second team in the Regional West Division. Moving abroad again, to a country he is familiar with, would pose no problems for him. But Sunderland – and Blackburn – will hope he sees his future in the Premier League and Borussia’s confidence is misplaced. Although Hoilett has no shortage of suitors at home, Sunderland hope that the lure of regular first-team football at a club looking to progress will be a major temptation for him. There is also the fact that Sunderland see the talented youngster as one of their main transfer targets of the summer, whereas at other clubs he is just one name on a long list. Meanwhile, Sunderland have today been linked with a move for Porto’s Uruguayan full-back Jorge Fucile.
Fucile is a superb attack minded RWB Comm, in my opinion one of the stars of the last world cup (where Forlan & Suarez got too big a slice of the credit, they were outstanding, but so were many more of the Uruguayan's). He was on loan in Brazil last season, which was random, and my concern is maybe this was a homesickness thing?
