to charlton untill jan 3rd, good luck to him very unlucky not to be in 25man squad, but think the step up would just have been a bit too much for him.
Afternoon Jeff, I disagree, he could've done a job, as he did at Goodison. Rather him in, than one or two others I could mention.
he just seems a little light weight to me, always has cracking pre-season then goes off the boil, prefer smith & campbell, ok in hindsight with campbell out mid you whats puncheon done to me that was needless signing & then hogan could have got in.
HOGAN JOINS ADDICKS Posted on: Tue 15 Nov 2011 Hogan Ephraim has joined League One high-fliers Charlton Athletic on a short-term loan deal. The attacking midfielder, who just missed out on place in Neil Warnock's 25-man Premier League squad, has penned a deal that runs until January 3rd 2012. Ephraim could be in line to make his Addicks debut at Brentford this weekend. Chris Powell's side currently sit five points clear at the summit of the third tier, having accumulated an impressive 40 points from their opening 17 fixtures. iReader
I agree Jeff, always seemed to get knocked off the ball too easily. However i think he was unlucky not to make the squad,in hindsight he definately would of been in had Warnock known that Adel's form would dip so drastically!
By the way this looks great for Charlton, they are flying at the moment and i really fancy them to go up.Hoags should really be a league apart in this division.
agreed he was unlucky not to get a squad place, hope he does well and who knows what January will bring he may get a place then
he was very unlucky, i would have prefered him over-Puncheon, Dyer, Smith and given his injury Buz (hello swords). Always gives 110% i would be gutted if we let him go
Not sure about the inclusion of Smith there Qpranger100. Surely his premiership experience, not to mention his performances and goals last season, elevate him above Hogan. Would agree with the others mentioned though. Hogan is still relatively young. Hopefully he will walk straight in to the first team at Charlton and show us how far above League 1 standard he really is, before returning and taking over from some of the sick notes we have in his place.
Charlton snap up QPR winger on loan - Charlton Athletic - London 24 Hogan Eprahim Charlton snap up QPR winger on loan Iain Liddle, Charlton Athletic correspondent Tuesday, November 15, 2011 2:59 PM Ephraim will cover for Dale Stephens Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of Queens Park Rangers winger Hogan Ephraim on loan until January 3, 2012. The lively attacker, who can operate on either flank or up front, will provide cover in midfield while Dale Stephens recuperates from surgery on his ankle. The former Oldham Athletic youngster is expected to be sidelined until the turn of the year. The signing is something of a coup for Chris Powell given that the former West Ham United trainee, who cost Rangers £800,000 in 2008, made 28 appearances and scored three goals in their promotion-winning team last season. Ephraim, 23, featured in their victory at Everton at the start of this campaign, but did was not named in their 25-man Premier League squad at the end of August. With Stephens missing, Andy Hughes has slotted into central midfield alongside Danny Hollands in recent weeks while Bradley Pritchard returned from injury at FC Halifax Town on Sunday. Mikel Alonso is also waiting for a chance in the first team, but the new arrival gives Powell the option of moving captain Johnnie Jackson into the centre of the park if needed. Ephraim will likely jump ahead of Cedric Evina in the pecking order on the left of midfield and the Cameroonian may now face a struggle to claim even a place on the bench in league matches. Similarly, the signing will create further competition for Scott Wagstaff and strikers such as Paul Hayes and Jason Euell. Powell moved quickly to complete the deal before this week’s loan window closes and it is thought he will allow Paul Benson to leave the club if a club makes a suitable offer. The former Dagenham & Redbridge striker was allowed to discuss terms with four clubs over a possible transfer before the transfer window closed in August, but decided to stay at The Valley and compete for a place in the side. His days now look numbered however with youngster Michael Smith preferred to him on the bench for the FA Cup tie in Yorkshire. Ephraim is unlikely to feature in tonight’s Kent Senior Cup tie against Bromley at Hayes Lane. Kick-off is at 7.45pm and tickets are priced at just £5. Smith before Ephraim any time - but Hogan should do well over at Charlton. Let's hope they get him spending his spare time in the Gym and he comes back to LR with the physique of Les Ferdinand.
Best of luck to him, wears his heart on his sleeve and is generally a nice guy, so I think he should settle well at Charlton. I was personally a little gutted he didnt get a place in the squad this year.
When he first arrived I thought Ephraim was going to develop into a quality player but I am not sure now. Hopefully he will do well at Charlton but I think the Championship will be his eventual level. Seems to be a good, honest guy so best of luck to him.
Best of luck to him. I would take him over Puncheon, who looks pretty awful to me, any day. Unlucky to miss out on the 25 imo.
It will do Ephraim the world of good. He should come back with his confidence sky high having ripped League One defences apart - if he comes back. I've got a lot of time for him, he scored one of my favourite goals last season (Middlesbrough at home), but I don't see him as a Premier League player. As for picking him over Smith - come on 100, really?
I like Hogan and like most people on this forum think that he was very unlucky not to make the 25, I also would rather have him in than Puncheon
Yes my argument with smith is that he always looks busy without actually doing much. Hogan is younger, has more skill, is willing to help out defending. I raised the issue with Smith a while back. Even tarbs kept his place longer then Smith once the new players came in....
