Watched "A Serious Man" for the first time the other night. That's one dark sense of humour those ****s have got.
I've got it recorded, one of the few Cohen Movies i've not seen. Miller's Crossing and Hudsucker Proxy are probably my two favourites.
When the Coen brothers hit the mark they can produce brilliant movies, but when they miss it, utter dross.
"Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" is a 10/10 movie, and there haven't been many of those in the last 100 years. "Fargo" also takes some beating. Their remake of "The Ladykillers" was a wasted effort, but I haven't seen any other Coen Brother's movies I didn't like.
Yep. "Fargo" is my favourite of theirs. "The Ladykillers" and "Burn After Reading" were terrible. Not a great fan of "Barton Fink" either.
It was on again the other week and I tried to watch it but gave up. Just can't get into that movie at all.
You're thinking of There Will Be Blood, I think. They came out at a similar time and were both set in the West. I liked No Country For Old Men. Didn't they do a remake of True Grit, too? That was decent. Fargo was a bit underwhelming, but The Big Lebowski was good. Miller's Crossing was watchable, but a bit silly at times. For example, when the Albert Finney character machine-gunned the hitman for about 30 seconds, without him falling over or having to reload his gun.
