The rumours are getting stronger and stronger - which is of course interesting.

However, I have not seen Hiquain play too much - just on youtube (which make anyone looks good), bit in world cup (but never really analyzed his game too much since he wasnt a target for arsenal then) and of course read his impressive stats.

Anyone who actually watched him a few games? How do you think he would fit in?

I read he is not the fastest or the strongest - seems to be more "right place at the right time' type of player. or?

Benzema is the main CF for Real as he is better at hold up play and bringing in players. But Higuain is a clinical finisher 33% conversion rate which is what we need. He is more than decent on the ball with decent pace but one thing he will get us goals. Will be interesting to see how quickly he adapts to the physicality of the league. We are not going to get Cavani, Falcao or Lewandowski, in the next line of strikers he is the pick of the lot plus only 25 so his peak years are ahead of him.

Our teams generate enough chances and he can get on the end of many of them. Would be a brilliant signing.

What is the conversation rate for Falcao, Lewandowski and Cavani?

    Higuain (no Penalties) - 2011-12 43%, 2012-13 32% - Average Premier League striker 16%.

Cavani 1 in 4.3 shots so roughly 23%
Falcao 1 in 3.7 shots so roughly 27%
    Lewandowski 1 in 4.5 so roughly 21%

These are based on figures from internet searches so someone who knows more can correct them if required. But it does show that he is far more clinical than the others. But he has also had injuries and not being first choice to contend with. If he started every game I imagine that figure would drop. But it does show someone who gets goals from min chances. Something pivotal especially in the bigger games.

Pretty impressive stats! I'm sure Wenger loves that fact.

I've watched Real quite often. Higuain is a very pacy, sharp centre forward but he's more than just a poacher. He gets a fair few assists.

Madrid fans actually got annoyed with Mourinhos insistence on starting Benzema because whenever Higuaine played he seemed to score.

The thing about Higuain is that he's only just 25 and therefore has his 'peak' ahead of him. I personally think he would be a great signing.

2 or 3 seasons ago we where linked with Higuain for the first time and i do think he is genuinely a player wenger has been keeping tabs on. If he is now in a position to move on from RM then i hope he comes to us. He would be a brilliant signing, just the sort of calibre of player i think we need to be looking at.

If our two main options up front where Higuain and Giroud, with Walcott and Podolski as back-up i'd be very happy. Higuain as our clinical finisher and Giroud as the big man up top - both good for different types of games.

If we bring in Higuain and our other signings are of a similar level then i have high hopes for this comming season!

Watching Higuain, the thing I notice is that he has a very powerful shot using either foot with practically no back-lift - as they say a very quick release.

He is fairly quick, good dribbling ability, but for me it is that shot that is so impressive.

Looks like this could really happen, unless we somehow f*ck it up, like we did with Mata.

Done deal, and I'd say it was a done deal months ago.
The player announced after Madrids last game that he'd be leaving despite having 2 years left on his contract, so being owned by the club they dictate where he plays next season not the player.
I'm a big believer that these things are a done deal long before they're confirmed...

The only doubt is whether the new Madrid manager fancies him and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

Higuain has been a fan favorite at Madrid for years, they must have somebody BIG lined up (Bale hopefully) to compensate for him leaving.

The best thing about this deal....other than we will get a very interesting striker....it is that the money will probably be reinvested to buy Bale from Spurs!

So lets give real a bit more money just to ensure that deal happens ;)

    They're after Cavani aren't they?
Bale would be a big loss for Spurs, but with 80+m they could strengthen hugely & more than compensate for his loss.

Higuain will be a great addition if he happens. What shirt will he take!?
