Alright, none of this "let's create a thread with barely any info so that I can get points for people commenting on it" rubbish. This is the high quality, non-jinxing, detailed info Champions League thread. Discussion points range from the draw on Friday (who do you want to draw & avoid), as well as the discussion of the various match-ups after the draw has been made. I will update this thread after the draw, don't forget to take the poll as well. Champions League Quarter Final teams (all came #1 in their groups). This is my opinion of their order of strength. 1. FC Bayern München (GER) [beat Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate] 2. Real Madrid CF (ESP) [beat Schalke 9-2 on aggregate. Yes, 9-2.] 3. FC Barcelona (ESP) [beat Man City 4-1 on aggregate] 4. Chelsea FC (ENG) [beat Galatasaray 3-1 on aggregate] 5. Club Atlético de Madrid (ESP) [beat AC Milan 5-1 on aggregate] 6. Paris Saint-Germain (FRA) [beat Bayer Leverkusen 6-1 on aggregate] 7. Manchester United FC (ENG) [beat Olympiacos convincingly 3-2 on aggregate] 8. Borussia Dortmund (GER) [beat Zenit 5-4 on aggregate] The Quarter Final draw will be done on Friday 21 March 2014. There are no restrictions so teams from the same country can play each other. Personally I just want to avoid the top 3 teams in my list, any of the other 4 are fine by me! We wouldn't be favourites to go through but at least I won't be fearing an absolute thrashing. EDIT: Quarter final draw: Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea Manchester United vs Bayern Munich Bugger. So much for my hopes and dreams...
Not gonna vote as I'm not a ManUtd fan, but I'd say you've got the best chance against Chelsea. The others have too much firepower.
I suppose that when you get to this point in the comp you've got to want the big teams, surely that's what it about playing the likes of Barca and Bayern over 2 legs having no fear and looking to go all the way.
Playing Routemaster FC would be anti football and Uefa would not allow it. UTD to play Barca and Routemaster to play PSG
Why wouldnt we? Are they unbeatable? The first team in football history to be unbeatable? Didnt think so.
They are, but still far from the best teams in the comp imo. I want United to go as far as poss (unless they draw Chelsea of course). Our coefficient is being f**ked by Arsenal, Spurs and City's s**te European performances. Once again it falls to Chelsea and United to fly the flag for the Premier League in European compeition. We are in serious danger, if our sh!t form contjnues of losing that 4th CL spot. Which makes me wonder why Arsenal bother competing for the 4th place trophy every year, so they can then play in the "Get knocked out in the last 16" Euro League. If they are not serious about competing for and winning the CL, why are they so determined to be in it every year. (I know, the money, but still, they could try to show some f**king ambition)
Maybe this year the worst club left (or one of) in the thing will pull it off. Its happened many times. 2004, 2005, 2010, 2012.
2004,2005 and 2012 I will give you - Only a total ****tard would have said Porto, Liverpool and Chelsea were the best teams in Europe in those years. But 2010?!? Inter were easily one of, if not THE best team around at that time. Smashed their domestic comps and won the treble too. No way were they one of the under dogs of the competition that year.
We were playing well though in the CL throughout that campaign and even though we were not favorites nobody wanted to play us, we went at teams and had a momentum. Serious post not having a dig but even after last night you lot don't seem to have the drive or the momentum at this point to go pulling off some huge shock.
