You sure Benty is over the hill? Personally feel we missed a trick there. So his wages may have been a bit high, look at the prize at the end, shall be mighty peeved if Derby go up and we dont!!
Also scored a few for Brighton while on loan, yeah ok he is ****, ffs!! Can you ever admit you may be wrong?
Actually not what was said tho was it, the point was, some of us said he score goals in the championship, to which you said 'he is over the hill and rubbish' Hoppers, sadly i do not have a clue what he is on and what Derby are paying, so honestly cant say if it beyond us but he would have been a grt loan signing that will score goals!!
He isn't over the hill whatsoever, he's just hardly played for two years and lost a lot of interest in the game I'd imagine when at Villa/ Fulham. If I was on 80k a week I'm not sure how motivated I would be either! That's what Villa are paying him Spanish, ridiculous wages. Would have been good to have just wages the issue and with Murphy being main man top scorer I'm not so sure how they'd function together? But sure he is definitely Derby's gain and will score a good amount of goals from here on in.
This guy will score goals all throughout his career and at whatever level he plays. He's one of the most consistent goalscorers the PL has known, yet has not been favoured by certain managers because of his overall game but at the end of the day goals are the most important thing in football and he pretty much guarentees 20 a season if he's played consistently. The reason he hasn't done much the past few years is because he's hardly played, bar fulham he's scored goals everywhere he's been. I rate Lambert as a manager but for the life of me don't know why he hasn't used Bent with the mess they're in. Would've been a great signing for us but out of our wage bracket unfortunately
Warky Bent is hardly a has-been mercenary is he. What was he meant to do with Villa contract negotiations? " Darren, we are going to offer you a £80,000 p/w contract over the next four years. You are currently on £60,000 a week at Sunderland, with you moving etc we'd like to offer you this, what do you think?" " No thanks. £12,000 a week two year deal please " It's also not his fault Villa had to pay a further £6/7 mill I think it was after a certain amount of appearances thus making them no longer want to play him. It's the clubs fault not the players fault! He'll put in a shift, contract coming to an end ala Leadbitter when all of a sudden he was good for us. I love football but people need perspective. It's their job at the end of the day, much like mine is working for the NHS. Many love it, some don't. Esso Ekotto admitted he only does it because he happens to be good at it and earns a fortune doing it as opposed to actual love for " the beautiful game "
