Just been told having open surgery on Inguinal hernia with a mesh implant, just wondering if any off my fellow Gills fan's have had the same and if so what was recovery like. Have looked on a few medical forums and have read anything like 2-3 days pain or 2-3 Months pain. Just watched video on Youtube of Operation and have started designing time machine so I can go back in time and stop myself from doing that. Up the Gills
Had two surgeries down there for a hernia and then a torsion and it's pretty straight forward. You won't be doing much strenuous activity for a good couple of months unless you want to wind up in a lot of discomfort and back on the operating table but you'll be on your feet after a week and moving around. Depending on what you do you can go back to work pretty quick. I'm in an office so was back in after the first week and just not moving about much on it. Any form of work involving a lot of manual labour will need much longer. Torsion was ten times worse than the hernia!
