Hermann Hreidarsson has left his post as player-manager of Icelandic side IBV for family reasons. The ex-Portsmouth defender signed a two-year deal with the Vestmannaeyjar club in September last year. During that period brought ex-Liverpool and England goalkeeper David James to the Urvalsdeild club. SportsDirect News understands that homesickness - his wife and children live in Reykjavik - played a large part in his decision to quit the post. Hreidarsson has the unfortunate record of being relegated from the Premier League on five occasions, a record he shares with Nathan Blake. The Icelander also scored for five different clubs in the Premier League. Hreidarsson has been replaced by ex-Walsall striker, Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjolfsson, who applied for the post of national coach of the England women's team. Question: Where does that leave David James ???
Can't see him fancying staying there without his buddy Hermann, can you ? Any team in need of a goalkeeping coach I wonder............
The Chairman of IBV recently said how little James was being paid, not much more than expenses, and wished the rest of the players would take a leaf out of his book. So we probably could afford him.
He has been really quiet on twitter over the last week or so. Much as we would like to I think the offer has to come from someone at the club
