...let's turn over Watford tomorrow night, then go and get a result at Stoke on Sunday and while we're at it stop pissing on a man's grave before he's even in it. All this talk of a successor is doing my head in, people on Facebook rejoicing that he might be sacked - it's bloody ridiculous! Yes, I have been a critic of a lot of the football we have played under Hootun, but I've never said I wanted him out and I still stand by that and will do until I've seen at least another half a dozen games this season.

I actually thought we played pretty well on Saturday, some of the passing and movement in the midfield was as good as I've seen it since we've been back in the top flight, and whilst I've never subscribed to the we deserved to have won the game way of thinking as at the end of the day all that matters is how many times you stick the ball in the net, there were definitely palpable shoots of positivity as far as I was concerned. I don't think we're far away, and with Hootun aware that the pressure is on to turn things around surely he will have to try something a little bit different as even one of his precious 0-0's won't cut the mustard for a lot of the fans at the moment. I liked Fer and Howson in the middle, definitely like to see them forge a partnership together, and as like others have said perhaps a bit further up the pitch with Johnson or Tettey behind them. I'd prefer Johnson personally.

Let's get behind Chris and the team tomorrow night, it will be a tricky one for sure but a good test and chance to shake off the cobwebs and get something going. I'm looking forward to watching Hooper start, and hopefully Wes will get a game as I think he would have made a difference on Saturday as Elmander offered very little at all.

3-0 tomorrow night would be just what the doctor ordered, preferably with an early goal and plenty of chances to keep the boo boys silent and the give us some momentum before the massive game on Sunday.

    COME ON YOU BLUDDA YELLAS!!!!

That's a great post Munky, though I think we may struggle tonight depending on which Watford turns up tonight! They have, at times, played sublime football of late, they have also gone missing at times!

They are just as likely to play fringe players as we are Dave. I would hope that our fringe players are significantly superior to a championship teams.

Quite right Munky. There were definitely positives from some of our play on Saturday. Let's build on that tonight and Sunday!! <cheers>

    Excellent stuff!

Was reluctant to log on this morning. There's only so many times you can put up with every post discussing the same topic going round in circles (and wondering how many weeks you'll have to endure it). Yes, discuss it if you want, but can't it be a sticky so there's room for something else?

As it happens, I find this refreshing post, so well done munky, and thanks! <cheers>

Well in the absence of Beef I thought someone should do it :)
Seriously though, these last couple of days have really done my head in, some of the stuff I've read is plain ridiculous. I've seen Hootun described as "our worst ever manager apart from Gunn" for example - not sure what some people are on, but whatever it is I definitely don't want any of it!

I have been critical of some of our football as I've said before, yes we were largely **** to watch last season, but you don't finish 11th over the course of 38 games by accident and I like to think I'm sensible enough to give the bloke more of a chance than five games before calling for his head. I want our football to improve of course, and I'd absolutely love us to bring in a quality attacking coach to ignite something on the training ground, but as I said before, there were signs of improvement on Saturday and as people have pointed out we were worse off last season at this point.

I'd describe myself as neither a pants-wetter, nor a happy-clapper, and if I had to choose a combination of those words I'd probably be either a happy-pants or a pants-clapper, though which I'm not entirely sure. Either way all I want is the same as you lot want, for our club to be successful which when you look at the last twenty years for comparison it most certainly is right now, and none of this nonsense speculation or negativity (don't get me started on the booing!) is going to help that <ok>

good post, totally agree with you there, a lot of fans are being disrespectful to CH at the moment, talking of new managers when we are five games in is ridiculous, If we get any booing at Stoke away it's going to be extremely embarrassing. I think there were a lot of positives to be taken from the Villa game that are being ignored and we need to give CH a chance.

Well said Munky, I´ve been feeling the same way as gandy recently and hardly felt like logging on in the mornings, it was boring ages ago, all this griping, now it´s just become insupportable, especially from so-called supporters.

I agree with you that it's become boring in the sense that we all have made our positions clear by now and we can only wait and see how the next few games go before we can add anything of significance.

Like many people, though, I bristle a little at being labelled a 'so-called supporter' just because I am broadly critical of our current manager.

With all due respect I don't think it's necessary the criticism it's the timing, it's far too early in the season for such comments. Fine, if after 10+ games we're pants fire away both barrels, but right now we are early in the season with players that haven't even featured yet, it all just seems like a load of Hughton bashing when we haven't given him a chance.

Vietnam, I´m afraid I´m old enough to be of the school where I think supporters should do just exactly that, support, both the manager and the players through the good times and the not so good. I must confess some of the threads I´ve seen from you and others in the ´Anti´ lobby have made me wonder, calling for his head can hardly be called supporting him surely?

Well said Munky <ok> Like you, I've become pretty disillusioned with the style of football played since November last year when the 10 game run came to a halt, but despite that we still finished in 11th place. We now have extra firepower, so any talk of dismissal before the best and most effective starting 11 has been tried out is simply ludicrous.

All I will say - not wishing to put a dampener on Munky's Churchiilian post, is that as football fans, there will be moans and grumbles when things are not going right. But should the revolving door start to swing round already, then we'd be back where we were 14 months ago, only with a new manager claiming "none of this is my fault, as I inherited this squad of players"

Just what the hell would be the point in that scenario at the present time? <doh>

I fully agree with this thread. I couldnt believe how many of our own supporters had us down as losing in the prediction thread! A good result will give the squad belief going into the weekend. I also hope we see John Murphy get a run out and Hooper opens his account. OTBC!
