As a voyeur on this site for quiet a while I have decided to start posting. hopefully i can pass on some knowledge and info that I receive from time to time and I hope I will be able to contribute to some decent discussion .. I would just like to introduce myself and say hello to everyone so hello, hallo, bonjour, ciao whatever floats your boat!
thanks yeah its a long one all right always bugs the life out of me when i hear it out of AOB or his son..
Thank you all for the welcome! Yeah Ron work in Dublin but from the south east in racing terms between two famous yards one of which isnt exactly well liked on here from what i can see!!
Kali Mera....I have Greek origins but born and lived in West London from birth and been to Dublin several times visiting the National Stud and racing at Leopardstown,Curragh and Phoenix Park when it was there ! I have always supported Irish racehorses for some unknown reason though they have always produced superstars on both NH and Flat and look forward to more in the future. Good Luck !
yeah that is a good day out the National Stud would recommend that to anyone.. you must of been in your element with the Arkle video and bones and the Shergar tales. Irish horses well as long as they aren't Coolmore!! they are fine by me.. tend to get a bit of info from time to time from a certain national hunt stable that has the best mare over hurdles apart from that just love the sport!!
Indeed,WALHAT,I have Arkle's picture by Gary Keane on my lounge wall...been there for over 25years..also a picture of him jumping the last ahead of Mill House in the 1964 Gold Cup ! There will never be another Arkle...not sure how old you are...maybe your Dad told you about him...I was lucky enough to be around when he was racing despite being aged only 9 when I watched him his first Gold Cup as my 8 years older brother had backed Mill House and was adamant he would retain his unbeaten record and win that epic encounter ! What a horse !
I went to Nicosia racecourse in Cyprus once..an amusing day out...similar to a day out at any of the All Weather dross served up in the UK...other than that ...nothing special ! Having said that there a quite a few wealthy Greek owners out there..I am sure you have all heard of Stavros Niarchos etc
