He'd just go clubbing! Pardew defends decision to send Ben Arfa home to continue recovery

    From Daily Mail

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has defended the decision to allow winger Hatem Ben Arfa to continue his recovery from a broken leg in France, because the alternative is to let him loose on the city's night-life.
The £6 million signing from Marseille suffered a double fracture from Nigel de Jong's horror tackle in October and has spent the majority of his recuperation time at the French FA headquarters in Clairefontaine.
Although he returned briefly to Tyneside last month, the France international is continuing his rehabilitation with his national team doctors and Pardew believes it could be another six weeks at least before he is ready to make his playing return.
Leg breaker: Nigel De Jong's challenge in October broke Ben Arfa's leg
Pardew said: `We’ve questioned whether to bring him back at times and have his treatment here and get him embedded into the city a little bit more, but I think the personal issue he had with what happened in Tunisia with his family and him, as a person, we just think it’s better that he stays there.
`It’s nothing to do with the French national team or anything like that - you have to take on board that he’s a foreign player, newly arrived in the country and the injury happened so early for him, would you really want to be stuck here with a broken leg with people he doesn’t really know? He’s been brought up there, he knows the doctor and everything else.
`It’s a moral debate that me and the club doctor have had - shall we bring him back? - and we just keep coming to the same decision - let’s just leave him there, he seems to be progressing well.
`Other than being in the city and getting used to the restaurants and God knows what else, there’s no other benefit for us at the moment.
Crocked: Ben Arfa has returned to France to complete his rehabilitation
`He’s on constant attention at Clairefontaine, he seems to be enjoying the treatment and everything else and our doctor travels over and makes sure. The facilities there are absolutely brilliant.'
Pardew has Joey Barton, Jose Enrique, Stephen Ireland and Jonas Gutierrez ruled out of the visit to Stoke next weekend but Ben Arfa, who made an immediate impact on signing from Marseille has not featured since the defeat at Eastlands. He was Pardew's first signing in January and he has not even seen the midfielder play in a Newcastle shirt yet.
But the Newcastle boss, who had Ben Arfa on the bench for the draw with Bolton last month, is hoping to see him before the end of the season.
He added: `I’ve always said with that kind of injury, and getting confidence back, I still think it will be the back end of April, if at all this season. If I get him back, it’s a bonus for me.'

    Good move by Pards IMO

Just the thought that De Jong ruled out Ben Arfa for the whole season is bad, but to think he didn't even apologise for doing so... I hate that disgrace of a 'footballer'.

Good move by Pards though, no point rushing him back. He'd be better off recovering and having a good pre-season.

Thats what got to me, when the likes of Shawcross and Taylor were absolutely villified for mistimed challenges that they clearly showed remorse for on the field and apologised afterwards, yet De Jong just carried on as if nothing had happened and has maintained his silence since. Absolute scum.

<ok> The best thing you've ever ever said mate. Ha :p

I can't see HBA being back this season if I'm honest. He'll probably just start to feature in pre-season, then he's got more time to comfortably slide into the team.

Let him recover, come back for pre-season and he'll be back for next season.

We need him, but we have to do whats best for the lad and if Pardew thinks that HBA being in France I will go along with that. A fit HBA is what we need and I dont want to see him rushed back.

    Baby seals??

It's a shame he doesn't want to recover here, it would be better if he got to know his teammates and that a little better.

I think everyone in the squad speaks Ameobish so there shouldn't be any language barrier issues.

Nolan said they have talked a few times, and other players have also. He also thanked fans for our get well messages.

His grasp of English seems to be competent.
