City are doing fantastically well at grinding out results so far but there has been a lot of talk about a lack of threat from set pieces. Am I right in thinking we've not scored a headed goal yet this season (apart from OGs)? If so I wonder if we're the only team in the division, league. One for the statisticians?
I don't think we've scored from a set-piece this season, but I'm sure there will also be a few others who haven't. It's no surprise really because we're the smallest team in the league with Hobbs and Brady being the only players in our normal starting line-up who are over 6ft. Strovolos made this thread last week about our threat (or lack of it) from corners if you are interested.
I raised this a few weeks ago, pardon the pun...Lol http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/94759-Headed-goals-count-!!!
Point is, I brought this up a week or so ago and its one of my biggest worries is our lack of headed goals or aerial threat all over the pitch.
Just out of interest, out of all the Championship goals scored yesterday 7 were headers and none better than this one on the video at 27 minutes and 57 seconds into the programme from Burnleys 'Austin' Proper Bullet Header !!!
So your assuming Pearson is planning to drop Hobbs or Chester just to have a bit more of a threat from set pieces? Come off it! Chester is one of the best central defenders in the division and Pearson is a big fan of Hobbs who is improving game after game. If the rumour about the Algerian is true then he'll almost certainly only be used as back-up.
First of all numpty, I am commenting on the WHOLE team, we have NO HEIGHT OR AERIAL THREAT, get down off my back Monkey, Drop the whole Hobbs crap, that was yesterday !!! Move on !!! How very wrong you are. If the Algerian did come, he would'nt be coming to just to warm the bench, after all this is why he is looking to leave his respective club in search of first team footy. As for Chester, christ he's awesome and certainly should be on our team sheet every week. Read here.... From Sky "He has been limited to just one Carling Cup appearance since the move, and he is now looking at his options. He signed for Premier League Swansea City on transfer deadline day, but the move was cancelled as Fifa ruled it was not completed in time. Now it is understood Brighton, Burnley and Hull City are all considering making a move for the 25-year-old. "I want to play first team football for sure and need to found that opportunity to do that, hopefully that will materialise," Halliche told skysports.com."
When Chester was at Carlisle on loan he scored some goals, is that just because the defending in the Championship is better than is the first division or did he get forward more?
Do you mean he scored goals with his head or his feet? He aint tall enough really to offer a real aerial threat going forward and this is his only slight weakness of an excellent all rounder.
Elliott was an exception to the rule. I'll go as far to say he is the BEST header of a ball I've EVER seen, he seemed to just hang in mid-air for ages. Great guy, true gent.
