Just watching a bit of Wimbledon and it occurred to me that we'll have the "benefit" of Hawkeye this season as Goal Line Technology will be installed at all PL gounds.Do we think that it's going to slow the game down at all. Sorry to dicuss football on here but I'm bored ****less and hungover.

Shouldn't do a simple green light behind the goal could go on after the ball crosses the goal line, I don't see any problem with that

Apparently there needs to be 6 cameras mounted high up pointing at each goal-mouth to give a decision. I think the ref has to hear a bleep or something rather than see a light. I don't know.

So he gives the goal then has to argue with the aggreived players because they don't agree. I can see a fair few bookings for not accepting the decision. I know they should but someones not going to in the heat of a game. Surely the referees are going to have to use a new hand signal to indicate that Hawkeye has made the decision.

I don't think players will feel aggrieved, Hawk Eye will tell them if it has or hasn't crossed the line. There isn't a debate.

Does the ball have sensors in it then?

I like the idea of the ref making a "Hawkeye Says...GOAL!" signal too, I think flapping both arms while running around in a circle followed by a dramatic point at the centre spot would work!

sorry to go all 'ornithology' on you but wouldn't that be chickeneye? I'd favour a swooping motion before pouncing on the centre spot a'la kestrel on a vole.

Possibly the use of a different whistle to signal a goal would do it...something like one of those duck calls hunters use but with the sound of a hawk obviously.

Good point. I was just thinking more of the ref and the practicalities, I do like your suggestion though.

That's brilliant! I think BFT's suggestion of the Kestrel along with a RAAWWWWWWK! type whistle, the players will never argue with that!

Bugger off you, we're talking about how the ref can indicate a goal now!

all goals will use hawkeye.... every single one? describe me a situation that a goal would be scored where hawk eye would not have been used to declare a goal?

i was totally conned by the title, Hawkeye, So are really doing the goal line tech this season? Will the ref over rule the hawkeye?

<doh> should have read Andy King's Crown Jewels Link first.

If the ref's using Hawkeye surely his decision should be an imaginary rifle pose!! La longue carabine. I know your all thick ****s on here, maybe Stan will get it..............

I'm not saying that Hawkeye won't be used for every goal. What I'm saying is that there will still be some nugget who will not accept it and argue the point. Some footballers are not the brightest of people and can be prone to acts of irrational behaviour i.e Louis Suarez

Not the best member of the Avengers, but Jeremy Renner is a decent actor and portrayed the role well enough. The only Superhero in the world to be named Clint.
