HATTERS PRE-SEASON DATE Posted on: Sat 23 Jul 2011 The R's final pre-season friendly ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season will come in the shape of a fixture against Luton Town eight days before the big kick-off. Neil Warnock's squad will travel to Kenilworth Road - home of the Blue Square Premier division Club - on Friday 5th August, kick-off 7.45pm. Rangers had hoped to play a home friendly in the build-up to the new campaign, but with works on-going at the stadium in a bid to bring certain areas in line with Premier League regulations, such a fixture was not plausible. R's gaffer Warnock said: "We wanted a competitive game the week before the start of the season, so rather than play behind closed doors, we're off to Luton. "The Blue Square Premier starts the same week as the Barclays Premier League, so it makes sense. "We had three or four offers, but we decided on Luton as it's not so far. It's good for the fans. "They're in a tough league and have got a good side and it should be a big crowd. "I hope a lot of our fans turn up for it."
