how quiet this thread is becoming lately? Does this mean people are starting not to care? Despairing? If so, that's worrying, because it must also be happening to the larger NCFC football public.
Probably. Shame, because this used to be a good forum and sometimes still is. 2013 seems to be putting a strain on the entire club, including the fans.
I think our problem is that we keep losing members through petty spats, but we've not got a lot of new blood inbound to keep the number of posts up. Then there's less material to keep people coming, so they visit less, post less, and it becomes a vicious circle. Should probably take the opportunity to say, if you're a "guest" who enjoys reading fora more than posting, please don't be afraid to join in and have your say! Whilst we're not the most harmonious bunch sometimes, most of the time people know where the boundaries are - just be prepared to give as good as you get sometimes! Honestly, all opinions/contributions are welcome. If anyone can think of a more active way to recruit, it's probably something we should consider.
If you don't take the stance that you are always right and anyone that doesn't agree must be wrong, getting along just fine is not hard to do
i think that Hughton has divided the fans on here. When i first joined there was a lot of banter between us and other fans, especially the binners. A lot of that has gone, now a majority of the debate is about Hughtons ability to lead the club. The last time it was this bad at Norwich was when Roeder was in charge. We are all passionate people, we just have different points of view. I can live with that, many on here cannot. I am now despairing, this season is going to s##t and nobody is doing anything about it. My personal belief is that Hughton and his staff are way out of their depth and need to go, or our PL dream will end abruptly if we stand by and do nothing.
I don't envy the board because it has been (and still is) a tough call to make. Straight after the Newcastle defeat, I said that we would definitely go down if CH stayed so there was no real decision to take any more (i.e. we might as well take the plunge because we had nothing to lose). With a cooler head, I would now say that I'm not sure we will go down with him at the helm. What I do feel as sure as I can about, though, is that CH and his minions are incapable of taking us forward - i.e. just surviving whilst playing **** football is going to be as good as it gets - so at some point he has to go if we have any larger, long-term ambitions. It's starting to look like it will take us being back in the bottom three to make the board finally deliver the killer blow. As we have a series of winnable matches ahead, that worries me - we want to give any new person a decent chance of a good start rather than get zero points from these games and final proof that CH has lost the plot. And give the new guy a mountain to climb.
i don't think it is any quieter than normal, we're just between games. there's been no big time falling out for a while at least
It is noticeably quieter. Superman and Beefy, for example, are rare visitors in the last couple of weeks, having once been fairly vocal. Speaking for myself, I'm getting incredibly pissed off with the 'headmaster' approach taken by one or two on here, who appear to delight in demeaning much of what I - and several other 'fence-sitting up until a couple of weeks ago' contributors have to say. I'm 59, ffs, and will NOT be treated like a naughty schoolboy simply for having my own opinion about stuff and venting it in my own words. In fact if it continues, I'll be out of here for good.
Every opinion is equal but to misquote a famous phrase, some opinions appear to be more equal than others - is that what you feel Cromer? (I'm 55 nearing 56 so empathise with your stance)
Just be quiet and go and stand on the naughty step! I guess I'm as guilty as anyone of calling out people I don't agree with! In quieter times i can accept others have a different view to me but what ALWAYS upsets me are the very few who will NEVER change their pov under any circumstance!
My regret is that almost every thread is twisted into Hughton bashing, often on very flimsy evidence. The banter and discussion of football issues keeps getting lost through that. I can understand that some people want CH out and think that will be a solution to everything (which I don't, by the way), but does that have to dominate every discussion? There is a perfectly good thread for that subject for those who do want to express their opinions, so can we get back to the football on other threads please?
I don't contribute as much as I did - too much warring between the Hootun Ooters and the Happy Clappers that I can't be bothered with if I'm honest. I just want to get on with supporting the club I love and don't want to get involved in all the infighting that seems to prevail nowadays. I just post on the Prediction Leagues mostly and leave out all the rest. Shame really.
I do concur with RiverendRick and OldcanariesFan and feel in general that the board has become bogged down with the CH issue (where there seems to be no middle ground) and the opinionated few who seem to railroad any debate into a personal tirade where you are steam-rollered into their point of view and that does not help debate either, so yes, my interest has wilted a little too. Shame!
Im mainly a casual reader than contributor. But being being the easy going glass half full kind person i am i certainly feel more at home on this site. I gave up on the Facebook forum months ago, never seen the pinkun (i hear its bad). But facebook is just full of negativity. At least on here there is a bit of civilized debate. But i predict over the next 5-10 games harmony will be restored and everyone will be friends again!
Hi Cromer bor, know that feeling. I made comment about our away strip. Unfortunately CanVietnam took the flak for my original opinion. Has not changed my mind, that away strip is abysmal. I made reference to what (in my opinion) would make a better colour combination. That combination is the actual colours on the logo above the director's entrance. Nice to know someone on the board shares my viewpoint. I fully understand others have the right to their viewpoint, what I do object to is taking it out on someone who happens to share my opinion. I would rather prefer others to criticise me and not take it out on a person who happens to agree with me. I would like to offer an apology to CanVietnam for mentioning the subject. Taught me to keep my big mouth shut.
