When you look at who is free then no one particularly sets the heart racing so why not appoint Hoddle and if he wants to carry on with his media work then fine and have Joey Barton as his assistant. I think that Barton will one day make an excellent manager so why not give him the chance now with Hoddle as his mentor.
One of the main problems which can bring any club down is division. Division between players/management/staff/supporters can cause massive disharmony and ultimately causes a club to underperform. I have no inside knowledge, but from what I have watched, the last manager to bring real harmony to the club was Warnock. We need a manager who can come in and pull together all the different elements of QPR, so they all work together for the good of the club, to get us out of our current position. For this reason, I'd have concerns about Ferdinand/Hoddle/Barton being involved in any shared management, as we need a strong manager figure to take the club forward. I wouldn't mind giving it to Hoddle until the end of the season, but so long as he doesn't have others lingering in the shadows waiting to pounce for his job. No manager can succeed in that sort of environment.
I hope Hoddle gets the job. If he wasn't at our club already, I'd still want him to take the job. I think he knows the game.
Three main candidates have quickly emerged for the QPR vacancy following Harry Redknapp's resignation, with one man clearly leading the way. We consider the credentials of the favoured trio and whether there are any outsiders capable of coming into contention. Tim Sherwood please log in to view this image The former Tottenham boss was installed as the early odds-on favourite and has attracted the majority of backing despite his short price. Sherwood has been linked with a host of posts this season but remains out of work since leaving White Hart Lane, where he set a club record Premier League winning ratio before his 18-month contract was cut short. However, with his only previous coaching time coming with Spurs, Sherwood lacks the experience of battling relegation, with QPR 19th in the Premier League and odds-on for the drop. Glenn Hoddle please log in to view this image First-team coach Hoddle appears to be a ready-made replacement to step up into the management role with a wealth of experience, including three years in charge of the England national team. He was installed as the 6/1 third favourite but has attracted the second most backing in the market, prompting his odds to be slashed significantly. However, the naming of Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey as temporary bosses raises doubts as to whether chairman Tony Fernandes sees Hoddles as the right man for the job. Les Ferdinand please log in to view this image The club legend will be looking to earn his first full-time managerial position after being handed an interim role for the second time in his career. Ferdinand was presented with the same opportunity alongside Ramsey at Tottenham after Andre Villas-Boas was sacked, before Daniel Levy ultimately turned to Sherwood. Ferdinand’s lack of experience is sure to be a source of concern for QPR fans as they battle for survival and punters are unconvinced of his credentials, with a lack of interest seeing him drift from 4/1 to 10/1 in the betting. Alternative options please log in to view this image The bookmakers consider it a three-way battle for the job, with other options 20/1 or bigger. Those include Rafael Benitez, who seems unlikely given he is in charge of Napoli, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who failed to save Cardiff from relegation last season. Steve McClaren is considered another outside option but looks more likely to be a Premier League manager next season with Derby as the Rams sit second in the Sky Bet Championship, while highly-rated young manager Karl Robinson is also 20/1 as he continues to impress at MK Dons. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...the-main-candidates-to-replace-harry-redknapp
For me, we need to be looking long term so I think Sherwood will be ideal for a few years to come, if we drop we will build a stronger better side...
Just wrote and cut and pasted from the "Harry's gone" thread: I think Sherwood would keep us up, but I wouldn't be happy if he comes in on a longer contract than till June. I still believe that Les was brought in for the job of taking over after Harry. Sherwood/Les until the end of the season and then Les and whomever he wants as his back room staff after that would be my choice.
I think Hoddle would be ideal but I really think the reason he wasn't named today was because he doesn't want the full-time role. I don't really want us to make a full appointment now. If they do give Sherwood a go it should be till the end of the season, if he keeps us up he will have proven himself and deserve the job. If we go down we would have options to bring in a long-term appointment that could rebuild the club the right way...
For me need for focus on the long term is precisely the reason I wouldn't take Sherwood. He has zero experience in the transfer window or of putting together or developing a squad. Eddie Howe or Steve McClaren are stand out cases but neither that likely to come now. Hoddle as the stop gap. But I don't dispute Sherwood may do well on a short term basis. Would need to patch up his problems with Sandro though who he fell out with at Spurs
Hoddle....for real?? Lost the plot last time he managed, and has obviously done sweet fa whilst at LR. Laudrup from Qatar is the only way forward. Sherwood has gone for too many jobs and failed to be appointed.Short term a Les and JB partnership.
Paul Clement, son of Dave ( Qpr Legend) currently assistant coach a Real Madrid, age 43, ticks all the right boxes, i know its unlikely but we can dream

Someone has told Tony that the players are OK and that it is tactics and motivation that are lacking (or words to that effect). Fair chance that may be Les eh? In which case Harry,Jordan and Bond all dead in the water. I reckon it is time for Les to show us how it's supposed to be done. Clearly understands the difficulty of getting players in ( wasn't this his job?) so will now be able to demonstrate his motivational skills and tactical nous. I wish him well, I really do. I do not think sherwood would accept an 'end of season' contract ( unless he is really desperate) which means if we do give him the job it will be on a 2/3 year contract. My impression of him at spurs was that he was a little bit up himself. All that hollering and shouting at players and officials etc only gets you so far. Be careful what you wish for people. A difficult road ahead I fear.
I'd rather Sherwood stood on the touchline, showing some emotion, than what we've had to endure with a passionless Redknapp.
talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire...Hoddle is just like harry stuck in a time warp of old school football....you need to get a manager who understands the modern game or you will get nowhere...
Sherwood would do for me & reckon bond. & Jordan will be out tomorrow when they announce back room staff changes.
Why on earth do people keep mentioning Joey fukking Barton? Are they on the wind up or what? Also, are there two Yorkies on here? I've seen one post totally contradict the other within 10 minutes today. Unless Yorkie has a touch of schizophrenia?
