I had my doubts about him being the right man for us but just seen some post match comments on SSN. He really has an infectious enthusiasm and had a smile on his face that I couldn't do anything but replicate. If he has anything near the same effect on the team then we'll do alright.
The team played so much better last night already, nearly all were keen (Cisse?), all were organised, defence better, more attacking even if we had no outlets, good substitutions....a good day at the office
Decent battling performance away from home and a well deserved point All four teams that played last night showed why we are all in the sh!t - all are well short on confidence Aswell as the teams improved performance, it was good to see an R's manager smiling for a change In Harry we trust
We did ok last night and although we didn't win, a draw is a good result for a cold tuesday night up north. I watched the Villa V Reading game on sky last night and before the game i thought Reading were the worst team in the division? Now i think it's between them and Villa. The game was shocking and if we cannot beat Villa on Saturday then we will deserve to go down. Neither team can pass. Expect 3 points on Sat, nothing else.
At least Harry engages the fans, he will create a 'We're all in this together effect.' Players, fans and management. We'll witness this on Saturday at HQ. Harry will get Loftus Rd rocking.
Managing a football team is so natural to him. He says the right things, acts the right way, everything about him is spot on. Such a far cry from MH. Now for the results...
Putting blinkered loyalty to one side for a moment I think you will find WE are the worst team in the division! Until Harry can turn hard work into wins we won't be able to point the finger at anyone else. At the end of May 2013 when Villa, Southampton, Reading, Norwich, Wigan and Sunderland finish off below us I will then puff my chest out and say Rangers are not the worst team in the division. Trying to achieve anything more than survival will be a miracle. Glad Harry didn't get a spanking on his first road trip, much easier to work with a squad who haven't just been beaten and if we'd been offered an away point at Sunderland at the beginning of this season I reckon most of us would have taken it.
Grove i understand where you are coming from but we play better football than both Reading and Villa, agree we are bottom without a win and i know that but watching that game last night (Villa/Reading) i cannot for the life of me understand how those teams have more points? They couldn't put 3 passes together between them? Sadly Villa won and gained more points on us but we shall see come Saturday. If Villa play like they did last night on saturday we will beat them.
The truth is though Ellers, our game was fairly dire too. Villa fans will be saying the same about us!
From what i saw on TV we passed the ball quite well. As for Villa, i have never seen them play that bad at home (ever). Our problem is putting the ball in the net and if we can resolve that we should beat them. We are bad (i know that) but watching that game last night gives me hope.
If you boys get behind the team on Sat, it can give them the impetus to get at Villa. Villa are a young team and might get a bit unnerved by a hostile crowd in the first 10-15 minutes. As you say Ellers, our build up play ain't bad its just the finishing. But you're right, we can beat Villa.
We won't beat anyone until we can score goals - and we won't get enough points until we can score regularly, game after game. There's little doubt that 'Arry is a positive move in the right direction and he's clearly identified the low hanging fruit, areas of weakness he can actually do something about now: the defence and us fans. No flies on 'Arry, that seems pretty clear from the outset. Not only is the defence likely to improve significantly (after all, despite the obvious imbalance, we do have capable defenders) but both his post match acknowledgements and interviews are aimed at stoking us up as that 12th man force we can and need to be. That isn't gonna happen overnight though is it? 'Arry knows that fans in our position would have had so much bollox to put up with, that it'll take time to refresh the necessary levels of passionate belief to intimidate opposing sides into early surrender. That said, it'll take more than words and the odd smile from a hangdog face to relieve my resignation to the likelihood of the big drop. I need something to really believe in - and that will only come from goals and points. Quite where those will be coming from is anyone's guess. We just don't have the resources, not even an extra-squad wonder kid coming through the ranks. So my reservations have nowt to do with 'Arry or his regime. With the right things in place, I'd be an automatic convert. As it stands though, unless the likes of Taarabt, Hoilett, Mackie and Granero step up to the plate as regular goal scorers, sorry but I just don't know how 'Arry can get us out of this mess. Watching with baited breath.
