Just a general thread on our captain. Not our Captain, the club captain! I was watching the game against Palace and was it me or was he slow tracking back? He didn't jump for their goal. I reckon he could be the link, unfortunately, that has been letting the defence down this season? Perhaps a few weeks on the sidelines might just do the trick in terms of us managing set pieces and crosses etc. Just a thought and I'm not saying he's suddenly become rubbish BTW. I still think he's a great player. Jol was clearly irked that Norway played him both games and then he has to come off at half time at Palace. Any comments?
I remember seeing one incident where he misjudged a header around the half way line and Palace broke away and he just jogged back, so so slow and didn't look bothered. The Hangeland I know would have busted a gut to get back and rectify his mistake. Hopefully it's just an injury holding him back and it gets sorted quickly.
Hangeland according to Jol is suffering from sciatica. If that's true the guy needs long rest and potentially surgery. I know coz I am suffering myself. Stopped my football and other sports as it impacts your movement. According to Jol is giving him pain on the leg. That's why he can't jump or run as fast...
If that's the case, we should get him out of the team as soon as possible so he can get back to proper fitness. I'm sure he's willing to play through it, but that's no good for him and no good for the team. Is it the kind of thing that you can exacerbate by not resting, or is it simply a matter of it not getting better if he keeps playing? Either way, we should let him get better rather than keep playing him.
Hangeland is a legend... I hope he gets fit as soon as possible. I do worry as serious injuries at his age are hard to overcome but no matter what he can stay at Fulham for as long as he wants!!! Take as long as you need Brede!!!!
Just catching-up with articles...Good to see the support.... Aaron Hughes has backed his Fulham team-mate Brede Hangeland to recover from his poor start to the season. The Craven Cottage captain has struggled for the first three months of the campaign, with the towering Norwegian at fault for a string of goals. However, Hangeland has been hampered by a nerve problem in his leg, which kept him out of the 2-0 defeat against Southampton on Saturday and the 4-3 reverse to Leicester in the League Cup on Wednesday evening. But his defensive partner Hughes, who has only just recovered from a torn thigh, says the Fulham skipper will bounce back. He said: âLooking at it from the sidelines it was pretty obvious the injury has hindered him. I think in terms of his performances the injury was weighing on him; pushing off and getting up for headers, sometimes he couldnât do it. Hopefully he can get it sorted and get back in as soon as possible.â Hangeland aggravated the sciatic nerve injury on international duty with Norway earlier this month, with the 32-year-old facing a race against time to be ready for Saturday's clash with Manchester United. Hughes added: âHe has been a massive miss for us. As much as the quality we have across the back four, youâre always going to miss a player like Brede and his leadership. You definitely miss someone of his stature when you get out on the pitch.â
