Alonso to Spanish news agency EFE: "no chance the contact was due to Hamilton lifting". No conspiracy theories allowed...
Since the chances of Alonso saying this if it wasn't true are slim to none I think its safe to say the conspiracy is over and its safe to remove the tin hats
But no Hamilton fan listens to Alonso and he knows it He said it to make Hamilton fans say it was a lift as they must be robots (This is a joke)
Take that tin hat off, BLS, but don't throw it away. We just started the season and if Vettle runs away with the whole thing, we'll need some kind of entertainment
I hope this isn't a start of the regression back to the bad old days of stewards post race interventin. I think both Hamiltons and Alonsos penalties are rediculous. The driver steward was Emanuele Pirro, and Italian ex F1 driver and Le Mans champion. He was also present as the driver official at the Abu Dahbi GP last season where some drivers were worried about his neutrality being impeeded, by his nationality, towards the Ferrari team. Read into that what you will but I think the FIA are leaning on the stewards to increase overtaking and that is where Hamiltons penalty came from.
Lewis has stated he expected a penalty, for moving twice one lap before Alonso nudged him, to me, it does seem a strange rule to try and implement into motoracing, after all defence and attack is what its all about isn't it. Neither Fernando or Lewis considered the contact anything other than a racing incident.
His movement down the home straight (Yes I think he did move) was exactly the same as Vettel did to Hamilton right at the start. That in the past would have just been put down as good racing. Now it's "illegal". F1 is quickly becoming gash. I think Vettel could have a gun on his car and blow people off the track and still not get a penalty for it. Back to the LH and FA penalty. It was a joke. I was shocked to the see the penalty. To the guy that thinks LH lifted off. **** off you troll
If vettel was to get a penalty for weaving on Lewis on the start, Lewis would also have to get another penalty for weaving infront of Button and both Ferrari's. Don't forget, Lewis has to follow the rules regarding the people behind him aswell while swearving. On video Lewis was the first person to make a second weave on vettel, he just covered it knowing he already broke the rule regarding the others behind him.
I agree Silverarrow. No one would have said anything about this weaving 10 years ago. It's all a ****ing joke in my eyes. I want to see people fighting for positions. Massa did exactly the same to Button last week (He moved more than once in many of corners and didn't get penalised). I like to see it applied to everyone and not inconsistently. I thought the massa defending was exciting but the FIA are stamping out that. I hate the drag reduction flap. They will stop drivers in defending their positions.
I think the difference between Massa-Button in Aus and Lewis-Fernando in Malaysia is that there was an accident at the end of it. But I think they payed for it enough with the damage to thier cars.
I think the penalty itself was because of the offence last year with Petrov, the black and white flag wasn't enough. He did it again probably thinking he would get another black and white flag...now he's facing the punishment for pushing it. But yes consistency needs to be sorted out, but again I just feel it was for last year with Petrov or even Valencia infact. Vettel got told not to charge other drivers into the pit wall, he served his penalty and has never done it again, so far. Regarding the FIA I'm not really interested with the topics of: overtaking, V12's, KERS, DRS. I watch F1 because i've never watched another sport while growing up. Vettel could be 100-200 points infront of anybody else and I would still get up early in the morning excited for practice-qualifying-race, shaking the TV in fury if one of my many drivers I "support" screws it up.
As an aside, I didn't think the 'moving twice' think was actually a rule?? I was under the impression that it was a gentlemans agreement between all the drivers, in order to make things fair, and to improve overtaking. Unless I'm mistaken, how can the FIA punish this? Ah, seems I'm wrong, its rule 20.2 here
