OK, top of league at end/begin of year with 51 points having played 3 more games away than at home, makes for a total of 102 points on average. Last season Brighton came top with 95 losing 7 games on the way Southampton came 2nd with 92 losing 10 games on the way. Udd came third with 87 points losing 9 games We've played this game before, and i'm sure we will a few more times before the end of the season, but these are the games left - give your predictions again about how many points we'll get... My predictions… Charlton Athletic v Brentford 1 Charlton Athletic v Bury 3 Sheffield Wed v Charlton Athletic 0 Charlton Athletic v Sheffield United 1 Exeter City v Charlton Athletic 1 Charlton Athletic v Rochdale 3 Chesterfield v Charlton Athletic 3 Charlton Athletic v Milton K Dons 1 Tranmere Rovers v Charlton Athletic 1 Charlton Athletic v Stevenage Borough 3 AFC Bournemouth v Charlton Athletic 1 Charlton Athletic v Colchester United 3 Charlton Athletic v Notts County 3 Scu nthorpe United v Charlton Athletic 3 Charlton Athletic v Yeovil Town 3 Huddersfield Town v Charlton Athletic 0 Charlton Athletic v Leyton Orient 3 Oldham Athletic v Charlton Athletic 1 Charlton Athletic v Walsall 3 Carlisle United v Charlton Athletic 0 Charlton Athletic v Wycombe Wands 3 Preston North End v Charlton Athletic 0 Charlton Athletic v Hartlepool United 3 I’m being a wee bit on the conservative side here too…. This makes a total of 42 points from the last 23 games, thus giving a total of 93 points. If that is not enough to get us up then the other teams will have had to have got 47 (Sheff U) and 48 (Sheff Wed). Looking at Sheff U fixtures, they have to play ALL the other top 5 teams away from now to end of season….. Carlisle v Sheffield Utd, 15 Sheffield Utd v Yeovil, 19:45 Bury v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Charlton v Sheffield U Sheffield Utd v S****horpe, 15:00 Colchester v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Sheffield Utd v Wycombe, 15:00 Huddersfield v Sheffield Utd, 19:45 Sheffield Utd v Preston, 15:00 Sheffield Wed v Sheffield Utd, 13:00 Sheffield Utd v Oldham, 15:00 Walsall v Sheffield Utd, 19:4 Brentford v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Sheffield Utd v Tranmere, Notts County v Sheffield Utd, 19:45 Sheffield Utd v Chesterfield, 15:00 Hartlepool v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Sheffield Utd v Bournemouth, 15:00 Rochdale v Sheffield Utd, 19:45 Sheffield Utd v Leyton Orient, 15:00 MK Dons v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Sheffield Utd v Stevenage, 15:00 Exeter v Sheffield Utd, 15:00 Sheff Wed fixtures….. If i was a betting man it would have to be us and Sheff Wed based on the above.

Stu. This is a hard one to call. I agree that we'd have bitten off any hand that offered us where we are now last August. And the new team is, largely, a joy to watch in comparison to recent years. But I can't help feeling that we will have a bad spell at some point. Some may argue that this is it and your predictions for the next few games are either realistic or pessimistic depending on your outlook. CP has got some hard decisions to make on the balance of the team between loans and permanents. And we hope that BWP can start firing again and that we avoid injuries or suspension to key players. There are a couple or three that we really can't do without. All in all I'm confident but we have much water and many bridges to cross before the season is out. In one sense it is harder to lead all the way and keep it up so it will be interesting to see what will happen if the gap closes or we go behind. But it's a good place to be so fingers crossed. Not sure i can see us with 100 points though.
Regardless of results, January and February are the all important months for us where if possible I feel we need to get maximum points. By that I mean we need to go into March with a clear enough gap over the chasing pack as we all know what happens to the Charlton sides when we hit the dreaded 10-points to go mark..
