Picked this up on LFW's, it deserves a wider audience as it raises various discussion points. It's a tad long winded but stick with it as it sums up quite well were the club is at.........

Regular columnist Ram Chandra returns to LFW to assess QPR’s defensive formation, the January transfer window, youth policy and the Ollie question at the halfway point of 2017/18.
I haven't been to many away fixtures this season, and the horror show at Millwall was certainly not a good advertisement for going back - 90 minutes of turgid hoofball and baffling tactics, a soft goal conceded and another away loss in the freezing cold.
After the match, the 1,800 QPR supporters who made it to the match were penned in like prisoners at the Den, only to be let out en masse into a quarter-mile makeshift cage until we reached the dangerously overcrowded South Bermondsey station. I managed to catch the first train to London Bridge, but not before being pushed and shoved by what felt like 30 different people all desperate to get home, and understandably unwilling to wait 20 minutes for the next train. Rush hour commuter trains in Mumbai are less crowded than the one I took, and after exiting the train at London Bridge like a drowning person popping up for air I immediately texted my girlfriend that I needed a new hobby.

Sad in this day and age that this level of protection/segregation is required, I've done Millwall away and it really is like no other, not in a good way.

That's a good read. Totally agree with his opinions on how we set up and the players we set up with. DT won't like it though

Good read. Thanks for sharing Tramore.

I definitely agree about the use of wing backs as against wingers. We don't have players that are suited or good enough both going forward and defensively to play wing backs.

Some good points having read this twice

    Bottom line

Keep the experiment going and look at the managers position at the end of season

As for our style of play I do not agree with his views on our defence ... it has taken a while but I no longer get the feeling we are going to ship the same amount of silly goals even with the forced changes of injuries and suspensions.

The Millwall game was dire but I defy any team in the land going there and not facing a scrap. They have a system embedded at the den which imo brings down the quality of any game. That night we were clueless and predictable. We do not currently have a game changing player

Bidwell’s end product can be lumped together with the entire teams final product

It’s not good enough and we are not taking any chances when we get them. There is a complete lack of composure in front of goal
That is down to the players not the manager

The effort is there every match generally and that has to be the foundation of any football team. There is a spine of solidarity with this lot and IH has to be applauded for getting that imo

The balance between effort and keeping a cool head is the area I would point to as our downfall regarding results. It has worked well recently in matches we were out of so not so bad. This team until it learns to finish off attacking moves and therefore grow in confidence will not progress. Still there is currently enough here to obtain our championship status and that has always been our objective and will be for the coming seasons. Fans still confused that we should be competing for a top six have to accept it’s not going to happen yet.

We are a ruined club at the moment and still nursing a terrible injury ... it’s happened let get on with it.

We stay up and build to fight another day until then everything else is just fluff and anxiety. It will soon be a new season again and only then with 46 to play maybe a new coach who knows? Then we are allowed to dream but only then imo

Have to agree with points ref Ollie, reaffirms my view he is the right man, if not the only man for the job in the circumstances. Survive the season and avoid promotion then take stock.

I’m inclined to agree that after all that we have been through that survival (in the championship and financially) would be a reasonable outcome. If we can come out the other side we can rebuild and look forward to the future again.

Imagine how many words would be written about QPR if we had more fans and/or won something or were actually relegated?

It’s a ****ing cottage industry. Got an opinion? Think you can write? Put it on the Internet, somebody will read it.

[no criticism of this particular blog intended. I read a bit and then thought that I have enough exposure to opinions about QPR on here. And that is plenty. I’m full of people’s opinions. What I could do with is a few wins]

Found it hard tp agree with much of that. Very harsh on Bidwell who has improved as a wing back this season. Still solid defensively and doing better going forward, he has put in many good crosses. Hard to believe he's watched him play this season.

How can he write all that about the defense and not mention the genersl recent improvement and the key role of Baptiste in that. He's been our best most consistent CB, a whisker better than Robinson imo because he makes less mistakes.

I'll stop with that otherwise this post would be longer than his.

Totally agree the upsurge of news and views is growing well beyond what the human brain can cope with. The funny thing is all the opinions are worthless. We used to say about newspapers that old stories would be fish and chip wrappers. Imagine how much crap we are filling up some server somewhere? . I see this as entertainment as does my partner with Facebook. It eats up time. As for the style of these reports it makes me laugh how anyone can take these reports so seriously hence why my instant reaction is to rubbish them regardless of content . We start to believe we are all super smart because we hold, borrow and then transmit all this crap.

    It’s all rubbish
    This is rubbish
    I am addicted to rubbish
    It’s time to turn off

He hasn’t clearly watch Bidwell at all
    I love the player
Like that CW bloke they are in love with their digital egos. I used to love my mate Swords and his comments on these reports he was spot on. Plus he was right about Churchill’s Pups before he got stitched up.

I don't think Bidwell has an assist against his name yet but that may be more down to our goal shy forwards of course. However, the key point of the article is to suggest that the likes of Manning, Furlong and Shodipo may be preferable a) if we persist with wing backs and b) to give youth a much needed chance. Hard to argue with that.

Didn't Bidwell cross for Smith to score when we beat high-flying Wolves?

Edit: No he didn't, just checked and it was Lynch!

Anyway, we're safe according to the Talksport super-computer....

My Sunderland supporting mate tells me that it’s the second worst Sunderland team in his 55 years.
