If we were to get into the playoffs, and hypothetically win them, the prize pot of estimated at around 150-70 million pound. Would this windfall count as "self sustainability" money from the owner, alas more money to spend on a few better players? Who's knows.

Is it though? You don’t actually receive that amount of money until the end of your first season up there. So you spend to try to stay up, fail, and that cash cow you have relied on becomes a white elephant.. it becomes money you’ve spent before you’ve got it. If you build a young side until they’re good enough, then they become part of that and their value becomes part of the investment. You don’t just get “given” £100+m by getting promoted,

Oh and not to mention that the players would also want an extra few million a year each. All eats away at that prize money

That's the question mate. alot of newly promoted teams take out loans then pay it back with the TV money. I wouldn't expect 170 million in the kitty, but it is income at the end of the day and the owner wants self sustainability as has been reported. Who knows mate.

If we won promotion through the play off or otherwise I think it would be a fantastic achievement for the club. The amount of TV money would be welcomed as would any future parachute payments . Also I Don,t think the fans would be too happy getting hummed every week in Premier league and eventually relegated. Personally I would rather wait a few years until we have sufficient good and owned players so we are not changing several loaned players every season and starting again each season. Having said all that, it will happen when it happens but don't think it will be this season

Great point. Some “fans” aren’t happy with the occasional narrow defeat or draw in the championship!! Imagine them if we get tonked every other week. Managers will get 3 games each before the crowd turns!!

As for a half term report, I would say progressing nicely. Keep up the good work. On the question of playoffs or potential promotion...Not for me. This is young, learning squad, the last thing we would need is another 15 point season..Yes the money would be nice, but as a fan, I want the club to grow at the pace it is now...now is not the time to face Premier League teams
