I'm of this exact opinion too. I don't see this being the huge deal some of you guys expect it will be, I was never too impressed by him playing for you lot and it didn't seem like he'd become any more consistent.
Maybe not but the management of the balance of the team has been poor and that is Brucies responsibility. He buys two strikers but won't play them and then lets another one go after the window has closed, not great team management and I am BIB. This has been brewing from well before the window, it all should have been sorted then. On the Ghana football site it says it was an unbelieveable offer we just could not turn down, they must be minted so with this cash and other transfer funds lets hope we see a striker in January, which I think we will.
The probem is, its not just Gyan leaving, its we have Bendtner who lets be honest, has never really proved himself, even though he didnt really get a fair crack of the whip at Arsenal, and when Bruce had him at Brum he was only 17-18. Then we have Wickham/Ji who Bruce said were not going to get played a lot this season, then Campbell who is on the treatment table till Jan at the earliest, and maybe even March/April. Then we have the likes of Tounkara/Noble who again still may be 2-3 years away from a regular 1st team spot. If Bendtner doesnt hit the ground running, or get injured/Arsenal recall him, we are pretty much screwed, if Whickham/Ji cant make the step up. (and they are not expected to)
aye easy to blame the club/manager but players/agents aren't stupid they know how to play the system/fans **** him
It's obviously he doesnt want to play for us, so as far as I'm concerned he can 'Knob' right off. Rather Bruce played Wickham or Dong Won. Somebody stated earlier that they hate modern day pro footballers. I couldn't agree more, my love for the game because of these people has just about evaporated.
We made it from Jan til the end of the season with Lovenkrands, Ameobi and Best as our strikeforce. It's only a matter of time before Sessegnon bags a few and I do see Bendtner doing alright, at least as good as Gyan anyway (youre right though its risky). But still you'll make it to January without too much issue I think, just as long as you get somebody new then.
What's the story behind all this then lads? Shocked when I heard to be honest! **** him though, you'll survive without him, sounds like a mercenary through and through! Gone for the bigger wage packet no doubt.
It wasn't Bent or carroll's fault that their employer wouldn't pay them what they were worth. It was their employer. So yes, of course, Quinn out. x
everyone keeps going on about how gyan has gone for the extra money but its a loan deal so he will still only be getting wotever wage he was on here. a mate of mine who works at the stadium reckons this deal was done and dusted on thursday but what boils my pee is the fact that bruce said all this parasite bollocks in fridays echo knowing full well that gyan was away so did the echo know too and were asked to keep it quiet or did the club just try to deceive the fans by announcing it just before k.o. hoping that most fans would be out already??!!! i fear a relegation battle looms imo
Well as far as I know the loan club can pay the player as much as they want to. Combined with the zero income tax regime in Dubai, even if his wages stayed the same gross, his 'take home' pay is automatically almost doubled (no NI either). So tell me he didn't go for the money then! And I don't believe anyones 'mate who works in the stadium' stories, unless the mate is Niall Quinn, Steve Bruce or Margaret Byrne.
