I thought he started well at S'land, adapted very quickly. Its been observed his form fell off after that. I don't think its a coincidence the Mackems suffered with injury and the Jan TW! He was a handful when they were at full strength, seems to me his supply dried up with makeshift teams.

Its difficult to put a price not knowing whether S'and are prepared to lose, want their dosh back, or want a profit on their 13m for him. Hard to argue an increased value, so anything thereabouts or under that would seem reasonable. Not the big name, but an improvement on 1 or two...just.

Of course I don't give any credence to newspaper rumours Lidls, but it's a little bit of a strange claim to make, which would quickly be denied if untrue.
We'll see tomorrow if it is.
I'm only giving it any attention because he allegedly made some rather half-arsed comments about how great Spurs are, but he's contracted to Sunderland, when asked about our supposed interest.

Bruce has been interested in Crouch since before we signed him and I believe he offered £12m for him then.
Perhaps he could be used in part-exchange?

I doubt that the Mackems fans would be too happy with that, though! <laugh>
It would explain Redknapp's recent comments about how great Crouchy is.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me either, Lidls.
They've got his price wrong (£13m, not £15m) and the suggestion is that they need the money, when they've sold Henderson and Bent for about £40m+.

The email story is a bit odd though and I just thought I'd see what people made of Gyan.
The other alternative is Adebayor, allegedly.
That'd go down well at The Emirates! <laugh>

I want us to sign Leandro from Brazil, I know its a gamble but he could be a real world class striker.

Gyan as well would be ok with us selling Keane and Crouch/Defoe. I think our forward line would be alright then.

I was almost too nervous to post exactly that Croatia but I agree. Why is everybody now so happy to want to sell Defoe whereas last season it was mentioned and everyone hit the roof? I think he should go but he's leaving off form which will probably carry on to his next club.

With Defoe I think a lot of us all thought sooner or later he would go on a good run and score some goals but unfortunately for us and him it never really came.

Defoe won't be happy as backup and if we want to be a top 4 club then we need strikers better and more consistant than Defoe so as much as I like and respect him, I think it would be best for everyone if Defoe moved on this summer.

I still think that Defoe is good enough to play for a top 4 team, but he doesn't suit our system at all and I think that van der Vaart is a better player and it would be hard to find someone else of his quality, so we need to change our strikers.

If someone were to pick up Crouch and Defoe, boost their confidence with the right spiel and give them a good run in a system that suited them, then they'd be back on form again in no time.

Sunderland or Newcastle would be a good bet, SSS.
Maybe Villa, if Bent decides that he's too good for them! <laugh>

    I'm not surprised, really.
    Sounded a bit odd.
I wonder if someone's trying to push an agenda with the story, though?

Sunderland have made big losses over the past few years, even taking in to account Henderson and Bent.

Still, I can't see him going cheap, I reckon they'd be looking for around £20mill which is a bit much really.

    Would a Crouch+Defoe+£5m offer be a tempter?

I've never seen why some posters say he's the striker we need - would anyone take him over a better option in a similar position, like *picks random examples out of the air* Forlan or Drogba?

I don't think anyone's saying he is the striker we need, but this smells of an 'Arry type transfer more than a 'Forlan' would ;)

Gyan is 25 and probably on about £50k pw.
Drogba and Forlan are 33 and 32 and are probably on about £120k pw.

Exactly, it's all very well wanting the big names but I can't see us going for one until we get rid of 5 or 6 of our current squad for some decent money.

Also, Gyan is very capable playing upfront on his own so would make a good signing for us if we got him for the right price.
