Just back from a couple of weeks away and was reading in the paper a couple of days ago about Gyan leaving. I was basically wondering if you guys are happy with basically 12million for Gyan, seems fair to me but I know a lot of you hoped for more. Cest for one told me to "stop wumming" when I suggested you might only get 5m for Gyan because of the high loan fee, so I'll take that one Cest As I said at the time, I feel that there may have been a clause written into the loan contract that they could take him for 6m if they so wanted at the end of the loan. Anyway, thoughts lads? PS Cuellar - class signing, I remember when he left Rangers I would have loved him at NUFC, versatile, consistent, nothing special or flashy, just what I like in a defender.
We got our money back so I'm happy with that. Im also looking forward to seeing who we replace him with.
Where've you been away to Mr R soul? Basically, if you count his pay we've just about broke even on this one. His stock has fallen what with him playing in a league akin to the Wearside league. Mind you, I'd have liked the club to have screwed the Arabs for every last penny. Nice to see you back marra, .
I've been to Magaluf mate so no picking on spelling errors guys Them Geordie Shore twats were there again giving us Northern Folk a bad name and showing themselves up. And how have you been Billy? On Gyan, I reckon he's a class player, that UAE club has got a great deal considering you paid almost as much for him before he was proven in the prem. However, no point hanging on to someone whos not happy so take the cash, find a young replacemnt and move on
Happy enough with the price, bearing in mind no decent club would trust him not to walk out on them if an offer of more money came along. But not happy overall. Gyan is a bloody good player and to lose him to a better bet than us would have been tough, but understandable. But it sticks in my throat that he's gone to the football equivalent of the North Pole instead of making a contribution to our progress. When you think of good quality players like him and Bent, who could have become legends at Sunderland, but chose to walk away for more money when we'd given them a massive chance to shine, it gnaws at my innards a bit. Be lying if I said otherwise. But now, **** 'em. There will come a time when Gyan'll regret buggering off to the middle of nowhere and I just hope the money eases the pain for him. After all, he earned it by sacrificing any football legacy he could have left...
The fee was ****e, but as ES is the owner he must have seen it a different way, perhaps he was just happy to see the back of Gyan completely.
We broke even more or less which is fine by me as I reckon we were lucky to do that we move on to hopefully much better.
It's £12 million with the loan fee, we paid around £9million, it's cracking business, and a lucky escape.
