HULL Tigers Ladies manager Rachel Gay says her side are "absolutely devastated" after blowing their title chances. The Tigers needed a win to secure promotion, but could only draw 1-1 at Barnsley. Gay told the Mail: "It's so hard to take. I have never seen the changing rooms so quiet after a game. We're absolutely devastated. "To come so close and not finish the job is so frustrating, but we only have ourselves to blame because we didn't play our best." Without top scorer Rebecca Beech, they moved Zoe Mitchell up front with Molly Storey and Kate Rowland played on the right. The Tigers started well, but it was Barnsley who scored to lead 1-0 at half-time. In the second half, the Tigers had the majority of possession, before defender Ellice Jackman headed home the equaliser. Storey, Jackman and Bentley all went close but the Tigers could not find the goal that would have given them promotion. Gay added: "I don't know if the nerves got to us, but we lacked that killer instinct and paid the price. "The league is over for us now, but we still have the league cup to play for next week, when we take on Guiseley in the semi-final. "We already have one cup under our belt, and yes it's disappointing to not get the league leaders trophy after coming so close, but we have to pick ourselves up from this and do everything we can to pick up our second trophy of the season."
