Allen had a belting game today (bar not just clearing the ball in the lead up to the second goal). As for Graham, I am a huge fan of his, he works his socks off and 11 prem goals in his first season for £3.5 million is a great return. As for the comparisons with Borini its difficult because of the type of player they are IMO. Borini is quicker but Graham is stronger from what I have seen this season holds up the ball far better. And before there is more posts saying that he isnt good enough to start for us, get serious for a minute, lets not forget he has scored 4 more than Torres who cost £50 million and plays in a side that creates a lot more chances than us over 1 and a half seasons!!!! I think he will get more goals next season and will sign off the season with a goal next week. Now im going to search online for an Elvis costume for next week
Caulker could well be back here if spurs sign this guy from Ajax Siggy will sign IMO , then a loan deal for a striker to compliment DG . Top post Yankee
The striker situation will be the last thing on Buck's mind regarding the summer , Graham has over 25% of our goals & Rodgers knows that . Getting defenders sorted & getting another " Bodde " type midfielder will be first & foremost if Sig doesn't return . The person I feel we have the most chance of losing is Vorm & that's would be another can of worms opened . Graham's minutes are secure next season !!
If i had 4 signings to make in te summet it would be: CB - Roger Johnson - Wolves CB - Givet - Blackburn Mid - The Sig CF - Steven Fletcher - Wolves Probably to expensive for that lot though.
Jackdan - totally agree - Jamie R spotted his contribution which wont be missed by the likes of his old man etc - Joey is our most-wanted and deservedly so - so, we need to bolster midfield in addition to a sharper striker
People like Dai talk about pundits yet they all agree Graham has done well for us. that is exactly what i said about graham...he works really hard and has had some nice touches during every game and if it was not for his lack of finishing and lack of power in his shots then he could have been up there with the rooneys and RVP of the premiership. Brendan's not stupid he knows the amount of sitters and shots well off target we have had this season and im sure that will be on top of his wish list this summer. its all we talk about in the pub after the game is our finishing is not there and couple that when commentators and pundits say the same thing then its obvious that is our weakest link. that does not put the blame on danny at all by the way but it is an area we must get right for next season and get into the + goals and not - goals....
Point is that Torres in our team would be a sensation, but that is to not take anything away from DG ! Who would not have scored the goals Torres has scored for Chelsea this season! Alas ,I think a swap is out of the question ! We are looking at the next level of player ,DG has been awesome and has more than earned his money, but I think there will be a different option brought in to challenge, he does miss his fair share of chances IMO
Funny you should say Fletcher. Ive been reading through a load of articles on www.eplindex.com and they were comparing all the top strikers in the premier league and he has the second best Clear Cut Chances Conversion rate (best striker as the top one is Lampard) 70% of the chances he has such as one on ones he finishes. Could provide good competition for Graham and could be relatively low cost....I'd still pick Graham though
He's a mid table premier league striker, you can't compare him with the likes of RVP or Rooney as they are in a different ballpark. For a mid table striker he's done okay, if he had scored 25 odd he would be poached by one of the big clubs. If he had scored that many we would be looking at breaking into Europe this season, the thing is there is a reason why we are not up at the top we are not good enough as a team.
All strikers miss sitters and have a couple of shots that go wide have a look at the actual stats comparing some of the top strikers in the country! http://www.eplindex.com/14273/best-premier-league-striker-opta-stats-analysis.html His clear cut chances conversions is quite low (only better than Suarez and Holt) however he has managed 11 goals and his shooting accuracy in general is better and on a par with almost all of them apart from the top top strikers, your Rooneys and RVPs....so his shooting cant be that bad can it?!? As i said in reply to a previous post...Fletcher could provide a fairly low cost, good competition for Graham?
He has also scored the same amount of goals as Suarez , how much did he cost Liverpool again ? Think it was £23m so almost £20m more than graham
forget about he has scored the same as so and so..mr so and so has other players scoring goals. we have danny and i agree with every professional pundit who makes a comment on our game that all we are lacking is a finisher. you cant get plainer or more accurate than that. danny we all like and we all know he tries but you cant get away from the fact that everyone involved with football is saying that he misses the target to many times,he has a very weak shot and one on ones he loses his bottle. If we cant find a finisher and are going to carry on playing the lone striker then we will be in a lot of trouble because its goals that win games and we have missed winning games this season because of our poor finishing. I and a few others can see what the professionals are saying and they are right on the button....
But as I said that if he was hitting the back of the net ala Rooney we would be in the euro spots, it's not just graham missing goals it is the team doing the same. You want him scoring 25 goals a season in this league for a mid table team, if he did as I said we'd probably be where Chelsea is now. And we'd lose him in the summer. You can't have it all, a 25 goal striker, mid table and at a cost of £3.5m, it doesn't work like that. We are a team in transition and I expect the club to bring someone else in to assist up front, I suspect it will be someone that Brendan has worked with before.
Exactly what valley is saying. Of course he's going to miss sitters, he's not a world beater by any stretch, just a good mid table premier league player. Exactly the kind of team we are. He has also scored over 25% of our goals this season, so he can't be doing that bad! If we were banging them in for fun, we would probably be qualifying for Europe right now. It just doesn't work that way.For what we are, we are a decent premier league team and Danny fits in well with that.
You CAN GET plainer and more accurate than the opinion of pundit, its call cold hard statistics which clearly suggest that he is on par with the majority of the strikers playing at mid table clubs, if not the entire league. Granted his clear chance conversion is at 32% which is near the bottom of the group of strikers in question but you have to take into account the fact that those chances include free kicks and penalties, both of which Graham doesnt take....this will clearly boost the conversion rate of strikers such as RVP (45%) Rooney (59%) and Aguero (49%). If anything pundits have commented on our finishing in general as a team, not just Graham. Yes there has been the occasion where they have said he really should have put that one away, for example, but which strikers hasn't that happened too but as for "everyone involved with football is saying that he misses the target to many times,he has a very weak shot and one on ones he loses his bottle" you are over exaggerating more than just a bit or just making it up. I haven't heard or read anything that damning and pinpointed at him directly....as for bottling it on one on ones I bet that Szczęsny and Begovic would beg to differ somehow?
thats his job valley, its what we paid £3.5 million for. He does everything right except for his finishing. I would not mind betting that brendan will move him to midfield next season because he has showed he can play there and do an excellent job. he will get the same amount of goals next season as an attacking midfielder behind a much better finisher than he has shown this season. for a lot of people he has missed too many relatively easy chances and missed the goal by a wide margin to many times for a lone striker.....he is a cracking player that will be better used elsewhere and we must bring in a natural lone goal scoring striker.....in fact two strikers....
Can't see him taking the place of a midfield player, what we might see is two up front with him and another player so we have another option. The guy is on a par with other mid table strikers, don't know how many times i will say this but often I think as people have to high expectations from him. He cost not a lot of money when you look what has been spent on others. We are a mid table team full of players that are mid table quality with one or two of a higher level, so what number of goals do you want from him ?
Including 7th place (everton) downwards, the only strikers who have scored more league goals than graham are holt and yakubu. Yet you expect more? I take it that so do another 12 premier league teams then?
