you only have to listen to the commentary on most games and its the same comments being repeated.....the ball comes to danny..he shoots..ohh its way off target and he should have scored there...and the next minute ...some nice passes by danny he works well with holding the ball......this is nearly every game he plays, good player works well but as a finisher and shooting power then it leaves a lot to be desired....iv lost count how many sitters he has missed this season. so thats why we need a far better finisher..

I know what your saying Dai, but we should definately keep him and ditch the other dead wood. He is only 26 and could make leaps and bounds in season 2

I agree that we might need someone 'like' Borini next season. Someone with more pace that will cause a bit more havoc for opposition defenses and score goals. Could even be someone that challenges Sinclair or Dyer so that we can mix it up front. DG does have goals in him at this level but to lead the line all season long has proved hard for him....as his recent lack of goals shows.

Looking forward to next week. I might even look for a 'fat Elvis' costume to wear here in the US!

absolutly we should keep him swim, he works his socks off there is no denying that. he is with the midfield or in our own half anyway and he does some good work..

Borini definitely gave championship defenders a torrid time, but then again so did Sinclair... Just saying, what we have now in our team, we know who's up to it and who isn't. Sig has proved he is up to the standard of premiership football and should be imo our main priority to sign. Spending on borini and not sig could well backfire and leave us for dead. DG has missed some sitters yes, but he has also created a lot of chances for himself. The supply he gets from time to time can be dreadful, we all know dyer and Sinclair aren't the best crossers of the ball.

(borini instead of sig was in reply to dragon btw, not suggesting we're going in for him, just hypothetical)

Rodgers has so far always found the right pieces, I expect him to find the answers again. In fact I think it will be easier for him to problem solve as footballers will want to play for him, the likes of Jamie Ohara would love a manager like Rodgers to rebuild their young promise.

It would not surprise me if agents want their players to come here as well, the ideal stepping stone, which used to be wigan but can now be us , finishing mid table in the perm league is the same position as hoffinheim sit in Germany and Roma sit in Italy !

We should be a good fit for a lot of quality players, DG stays but let's use our new found fame to find the right fit up front and at the back

5 million tops is what will be spent on any player .... & it will have to be a bargain 5 million buy before Rodgers is given the go ahead . Unless on loan ..players like Sig , Caulker, Borini or players of a reasonable facsimile , they won't be coming our way ... you can count on it . Lots of big money talk is a bit surprising considering the way things were 8 or so seasons ago .

Judging by some of the comments thank god it's Rodgers in charge. Pray tell where are we going to find the £10M required for this 'Borini style' wunderkind? Don't forget the money we have to find to land Siggy too. All very well wanting, another thing getting.

People like Dai talk about pundits yet they all agree Graham has done well for us.

I'm not saying we don't need anyone but get real, guys, we either take a punt on an untried up and coming or we splash out. I can't see it being the latter. We've had a great season with DG as our main man, let's not forget that. As funds are limited a decent CB to replace Caulker if necessary will no doubt be the Manager's priority.

The good thing is, a lot of the 'stupid' money will go on clubs splashing out on players who have a couple of decent games in the Euros this summer. Hopefully that means more good signings for our scouting team, who look outside that box.

So, HTR - who would you sign up-front? (in addition to DG to provide some much needed heavy-weight PL-level finishing)

I hope we don't lose to many of our players that we want to keep. The next point is who do we offload during the break ?

<applause>...Great post Yankee, good to see you've got the picture, and I'm sure the powers that be at the liberty will see that the main issue again, this season has been the lack of fire power, this to me is the main area that needs sorting. Knackered sorry but I don't see our back-line as a priority, though I do see the need for a CB!................... <ok>

We need two players at the back urgently, if Cauker is not staying we must replace him. And monk has got to be replaced also, he is not up to this level. I would say another midfielder and someone up front that is the four players we need.

However if anyone goes like ash or Alan we have to replace them as well, hope they realise the grass is not greener, pratley at Bolton could go down and dorus at wolves has gone down.

Ok let me put it this way, when we had our last spell at this level, we had Bob Latchford, Alan Curtis, Dean saunders, etc, all we have got at the minute worth mentioning is Graham?? Not rocket science to see we are deficient up front, now ist it!.......... <ok>
