Had the displeasure of traveling to and watching Gills last night at Brisbane Road. First half we contained Orient well and created a couple of half chances but second half our creative threat was non-existent. Add to that we gifted them both goals thanks to shoddy defending from Wright & Ehmer for the first & a poor kick from Morris and abject defending from Law for the 2nd.

Hard to take positives from last night. Orient weren't anything special in all honesty which kind of sums up how poor the standard is in this league that they're at the top. Walker looked like he wanted to prove a point and tried to make what he could off the scraps he was given, but in all honesty I'm not entirely sure what half of this squad actually offers.

Alexander isn't an improvement on Jackson in all honesty and looks worse being played on the left. Law came on and was worse so that echos how poor we are at full back. Wright has good dead ball ability and wants to work hard but gives up as soon as he loses his man. Jefferies ran around a lot but often seemed completely unaware of his surroundings when he had the ball so would end up just passing it away. Also seems to be bit of a hot head. Adelakun probably the most frustrating player we have, clearly has some ability but only bothers every other five minutes and quite often doesn't even bother to chase a loose ball that's only two metres from him. Green whilst wanting to create something just spends most of his time just sitting down or falling over.

Most of the new signings look lower half L2 if not Conference level and we're probably exactly where we deserve to be in the table right now with the ability of this squad. Probably a frustrated reaction despite losing to top of the table but it's a woeful time to be a Gills fan.

Thanks for the insight into the game and the team mate. I know you are very astute with team tactics, and I certainly hear your concerns with where we are at with this current team and any ability to progress out of this mess.

Sadly I think the last few seasons have seen us head in our deserved direction, which is National League, following in the footsteps of our hosts, if I remember the past correctly, also the likes of near-by neighbours Southend, to the graveyard of old league teams.

I think once we hit that rock bottom, I can't see our current Chairman having the ability to get us back out of it, afterall, we will end up there for a reason, a failure to stem our demise.

Draw's have seen Harris stop the rot on the surface, but scratch it and it bleeds that we simply have not got the ability within the team to push on out of it - the only thing we can hope for is Harris keeps doing whatever he is doing and hope the teams below us are worse than what you had to witness.

One note of positivity, at least it wasn't a 5-1 drubbing last time I was at Leyton Orients place, that's improvement isn't it....coughs and splutters away in amusement.

If rumours are to be believed, a supposed new buyer has been found. A US businessman that owns LA real estate business with assets worth near $2bn. If there is any truth in the matter then I can imagine this is only positive. With Paul Fisher in charge there's a man with a clear direction for the club and with a new backer, we may just be able to turn those fortunes around. Heck we might even get that new stadium at Mill Hill after all.

    Sorry, brb - I just can't help myself !
Gills have played Orient / Leyton Orient etc, on 75 occasions (competitively) - Gills have never lost by a scoreline of 1-5.
There was a 1-3 defeat in 2009, when only 7 Gills players had arrived by 30 minutes before kick-off---- due to horrendous traffic problems - indeed, my sons and I abandoned our car somewhere in the East End, took the underground, and arrived just before half time...Prior to that we had a 3-3 draw in London, when Gills were 3-1 up with 13 minutes to go - and were very lucky not to lose!... ....SO - what game was you watching?

I'm sure you remember the pub where your feet stuck to the floor. <laugh>

5-1 and those horrid wooden seats, at least if you live in the flats on the corner of the ground, you could move from the balcony to go inside and shut the door if things were that bad...

I apologise, and stand corrected.....I remember the sticky the sticky floor - and the tv showing some program in Russian - or whatever! WHY? .. I had genuinely forgotten the game - and Googled for a 1-5 scoreline - but couldn't find it ...oh well....
It says a lot about our performance when fans can remember the day out - but nothing about the performance on the pitch ( other than being rubbish. )

No problem mate, there's probably loads of games i've forgotten too, sometimes for the best lol. I think it goes to show how much I hated Taylor that time round. Also a reason I want us to stick by Harris, because I genuinely do not believe we could get a better manager at this level, I think the amount of draws prove what he has achieved, and retaining Orient for as long as we did.

Doncaster 6 or 8th club to change manager this season in league 2. If they win can Harris hang on to his job. Any other manager would have gone by now.
On paper Harris was a good appointment and better than most but he has not delivered on the pitch.
On the other hand if we do win could be a springboard that we need.

Well if the takeover rumours are true, it might just give Harris some time to see if he can do anything with any incoming investment first.

Thing is of those 8 clubs that have changed manager, even IF (and that's a very big if) those managers took all the promotion and play-off places for this season, 50% of them will have failed.

Suppose I'm tired of the manager merry go round, us ourselves have proved it rarely achieves much and whatever a new manager would do here this season, we will still be looking for another 18 players next season, because of the way we have been set up.

If we do get a buyer for the club, who has far deeper pockets that our current chairman, then I'd want to trust Harris with the money, and would do if it was my own wealth being spent. Yup, it could very well fail my subjective opinion, but hey I have broad shoulders. Failing that i'll blame pegleg. :bandit:

If a takeover does happen it won't happen soon. Doubt Harris would still be here unless form improves dramatically. That needs to start on Saturday. 2 wins and 6 goals is appalling
