This just about sums guns up: A Florida woman opened fire on her house guests because they were "too loud" and had overstayed their welcome, police say. Alana Annette Savell, 32, was hosting a couple at her Panama City home when the visitors apparently became noisy. Police say she ordered them to go, before shooting the man and woman in the legs. The victims went to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Ms Savell has been charged with aggravated battery by a firearm. Bay County Sheriff's Office told the BBC the female victim had turned up with a male friend, whom she had just met in a bar, at the accused's home at around 01:00 local time on Monday.

I'm no constitutional lawyer, but I was taught that we had an unwritten constitution. I was also under the impression that Magna Carter, in it's many forms, was an agreement between The Crown and The Lords defining the rights of The Lords, including their right to employ armed retainers, (have their own private army). As far as I know none of the English Lords have their own private army anymore although in Scotland the Duke of Athol has still has his, The Athol Highlanders.
I did ONCE qualify as a Marksman in the RAF where we went on the range once a year using an old Lee Enfield 303. The object was to hit a life size target at 100 yards I think with 18 out of 20 shots. (It was a long time ago and I'm hazy on the detail). On this occasion the RAF Regiment Flight Sgt supervising knew that I was a rubbish shot and he was in a bad mood when he came to mark my score. The lad next to me got his badge every year but this time he only registered seven hits. He was arguing, to no effect, with the Flt Sgt who to be fair was equally confused. He wanted another go but the answer was a resounding NO. RULES IS RULES. So up we march to my target only to discover that I had scored 27 hits from my 20 shots. The Flt Sgt was almost in tears while he signed my chit to collect the Marksman badge from stores. I pointed out that the unhappy soul who had just slouched away had obviously been using my target. No doubt I had strayed into both sides and even into my own on rare occasions, so give him the chit. NO. Rules is Rules. So just to cheer him up a bit I promised to collect the badge but never wear it. Somewhere I have an unused, ill gotten RAF Marksman's badge.
We don't have a written constitution. Magna Carta wasn't really a written constitution and, like you say, was really a load of rights that the lords wanted and, at least initially, made the king put his name to under duress. As a result, it went through a few changes before it was accepted. Of that revised version, almost all of it has been repealed. Its significance in law is now largely symbolic. Only three clauses from it remain on the legal statute books and none of those have anything to do with the right to bear arms.
