Qpr got 11k home fans v Chelsea for a cup game.

And deserted their team at the bridge when losing. Fulham Chelsea was far better atmos than the FA cup morgue at Loftus

You're not even a wum any more. You've become a repetitive and frankly boring man obsessed by one club's attendances even the night before your club's biggest ever game.

Interesting stats Cottager. To me they show how important the redevelopment plan is. Basically, we can't increase our average attendance without adding capacity, and the teams who go down every year are, generally speaking, from the lower end of that table. This season we've lost two teams who have marginally smaller attendances and one marginally bigger. That means that if our team-building falters at some point, we become vulnerable. With 98% capacity most games, now is the time to expand - if we add more seats, we are likely to fill (or mostly fill) them most of the time. That might not have been the case five years ago.

The table also shows that Spurs are punching above their weight, whereas Newcastle could be argued not to have over-achieved this season but to finally be reaching their natural level. Obviously, there are other factors than just attendance for determining how big a club is - wages paid will always, over time, be the most significant stat, I think - but this is a key one.

We need to get close and above the 30000 seats to give us some additional funds to compete with teams above us.

    Definitely there is a case!

Agree Madness and with what Captain. This figure of 98% of our 25,700 capicity two years running and revenue from TV + Performance (ie league position) also similar for two years running it demonstrates tremendous stability.

[To bring the two together this is a repeat of the TV + Performance money http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/05/14/where-the-money-went-premier-league-prize-and-tv-payments-for-2011-12-150501/ ]

I think the important thing about these two streams of money is that they are revenue and the more we get of that the more we can afford in wages and the more we can attract quality players (and/or keep existing quality players).

Raising our profile would help as well in having more televised matches and hence more money. Getting to Wembley next year would do the trick !!
