This guy has got a fantastic scoring record, even now in the PL, and is playing really well. His goal today showed very quick feet coupled with his known good strength. Wish we could get hold of him, but he seems to be contracted with Norwich to 2014 and is their captain, so difficult (=costly) I suppose.

Anyone got any thoughts, or hopes on getting him? I rate him more than Zamora, and Bothroyd, but think Defoe would fit us better if we could get him.

I think you will find DJ has scored more prem goals than him as has Zamora. Yes he has scored 7 goals but that is only one more than HH (who is on 6). I will keep faith in my own players <ok>
Come back and talk about this at the end of the season. Sorry but never would i want a player like 'hulk' playing for us. Other than today has he actually scored with his foot?

Rather see a passing game and good finishes than a lump falling into the net with 4 -5 players when he scores.

I had verbals with Bakes (who's vanished since the season started) pre-season when I said Holt would be better than Bothroyd.

Now I'm wondering if Hulse would be better than Bothroyd!

6 in 8 games now in PL, and more than 1 every other game since 2008! I'd prefer same as you, and as I said I'd prefer Defoe, but would also like this kind of finishing, which only HH is giving us now. I just saw their game today, he was a handfull for Everton, and scored a very goal, clumsy as he looks, but it doesn't seem likely we would get him even if we wanted to.

He, and Morison, have performed very well this season, and though most on here don't like them, you can't deny their form so far.

Can see your point Oslo, he has done well of late. <ok>
I would just rather see adecent playing forward. For me 'Grunt Bulk' is a Championship striker who has done well of late but not in the same class as other forwards in the Prem that have not scored as many.
Boothroyd is a more skillfull player but just has not converted enough (and hes had chances) but i would still take him over the 'Hulk' but as i said, i can see your point. <ok>

Bothroyd looked good against Spurs and City, but seems to have turned off his Boiling Betty Bothroyd bit again.

a bit prone to falling over for my liking and as already been said, not any better than what we already have.

Holt's a very effective goal scorer at any level but at the age of 30 probably thinks he's better off sticking with Norwich where he's done particularly well.

Part of me wants to agree, but I think he is playing in a well balanced team that play to his strenths and that is what we are lacking balance and unability to play to deliver to the forwards with a decent service.

Yup, to be fair I didnt think my post through properly. Completely agree about the team playing to his strengths etc, in fact i think Helguson would have more goals than Holt does if he was in a Norwich shirt.
