Gosling to the Vile?

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert wants to snap up out-of-favour Newcastle star Dan Gosling.

Lambert is a fan of the midfielder who has fought back from injury but is now stuck on the fringes of Alan Pardew’s side.

Gosling joined the Toon on a controversial free transfer from Everton – but his career was held back by a knee problem that put him out for a year. Now Gosling is fit but cannot force his way into Pardew’s plans – and that has alerted Villa who made an enquiry for him in the last window and are ready to make a £2million bid.

Lambert likes to pick up bargains and thinks Gosling would be ideal for his midfield where he also tried and failed for Charlton ace Dale Stephens in the summer market.

Gosling needs games at the top level and he could be prepared to move, despite being cool on a summer switch to Blackburn.

Not sure we'd let him go for 2mill, we need players more than we need that much money.

3-5mill possibly, but don't think Villa would be stupid enough to pay that

 

Vile will struggle like hell this year and will be desperate in January.
Most big name players will tell them to poke it so we could have them over a barrel.

Always liked Gosling. Just felt he's never been fit enough or had an extended run in the team to show what he can do. Having said that though if he were to move to Vile, it would not be that bigger loss to us as I'm sure people like Abeid, Amalfitano, Bigirimana and Vuckic can all step up and play in his position, weather it be as a holding or attack minded midfielder.

If we can get 3m then snap their hands off. We could really do with a covering CM for Cabaye.

A decent CM with creative ability. Like a Guthrie type.

 

I think we have one in Abeid. He has every pass in the book and looked our most creative talent in pre season. If we go get another he'll never get a look in. I have great confidence in him, Bigi providing cover to the first choice pairing.

 

He'd be taking a massive step down if he went, they were worse than most championship teams at st marys last year!

 

Anything over £2m would be good business in my view. I know it's not much, but we got him for free and he's yet to impress.
Everton fans said at the time we signed him that he's never 'fit enough'.

 

A lot of people thought they had turned a corner, that was until they came up against the might of Southampton, a great win yesterday, you must be delighted.

 

Been very impressed with Abeid from what I've seen of him. An instinctive player who can pull the ball down with one foot and stroke it with his other foot straight to the feet of somebody in an open position.

 

2 million for Dan Gosling? that sounds fantastic I say we sell him, he isn't anywhere near Mehdi Abied.

Lambert must have had a good gander if he's willing to pay that.

 

We've got Abeid tied down till 2016 so he won't be going anywhere on the cheap.

Good contract, every game Gosling plays is an unnecessary anchor on Abied's development.

The way I see it is, we have Bigi and Mehdi as understudy's to Cabs and chiek and Perch should be our emergency DM, not Dan Gosling.

 

I think you will find plenty of Canary fans who will join Toon fans in hoping Villa go down
