If this is real we'll be laughing all the way to the bank. No way we should turn this down.

To good to be true, my nephew ( QPR fan) is spitting feathers over them letting him go. I am sure we only paid £250,000 for Puncheon so a good profit plus a proven championship defender.

That would be the same paper that told us we had sold Oxo in January for £10M to Liverpool? Or was it Arsenal, or was it both? Oh! Man Utd too put an offer in sometime back.... Don't wish to appear rude and I appreciate we all want rid of Puncheon, but do we have to post a thread about another newspaper article?

Shall we not speculate at all then, Romsey Saint?
I thought the idea was to share anything you hear / find until an official statement is made, and discuss.

I don't wish to appear rude either, but if this kind of thread is not to your liking, do you have to you say so?

Can't be true, surely. QPR are getting mugged off big time.

Well it would certainly be a shocker, for both Southampton and QPR fans, Jordi.

There's one thing wrong with that article which puts serious doubt on it's validity... it was written by The Daily Mirror!

ESSGEE - Saintgreg10 has answered for me. The point I was trying to politely make is that why is anybody speculating on what the Daily Mirror has to write. If it was (say) in an interview with BBC by someone at QPR that a transfer offer was being considered; even tweeted by someone at QPR - it would have some credibility. But this is a red top newspaper. I saw a copy of the Mirror today in the newsagents (I would never buy it) - check the front page - sensational headline about 'another' man might have been with poor AW the night she died - the family have only just laid her body to rest and they have to read this garbage!

So, is that the sort of reliable, objective and respectable source we should be taking as our basis for discussion?

the only rumour I will believe, is the ones NA starts when he announces our signings on the OS. How many no called "news"papers had speculated on De Ridder before it was announced? Answer - NONE

I accept the Daily Mirror doesn't have a reliable reputation, but the article seemed to put a bit more meat on the bones.

NA suggested in his interview on Saints Player that the press have about a 7% strike rate when it comes to speculation. Am I to take it the DM has a 0% strike rate? I think the other papers deliver a good share of duff feeds for hungry football fans too.

I appreciate you sugar coated your comment a tad, but it still seemed belittling in tone.
You could have made your point in much the same way SaintGreg did.
Rest assurred, I now have a better grasp of the general consensus, and will refrain from posting press links in the future.

    :)

Essgee don't let bullies put you down give them as good as, or more than, they give you.

Your comments and opinions are as valued as anyone else's.

PS I am standing to be the next thread moderator when Beddytare throws in the towel.

What's new about this story? We've been discussing this for the past 48 hours already, it's not like it's breaking news?
