Sorry boys he's on his way to join Howson and Johnson. Don't know how long he has on his contract but you can count on your chairman Satan Claus selling another piece of the family silver for what he can get. Utter disgrace that such a good club as Leeds are reduced to selling their best to Norwich - don't get me wrong we are hugely grateful and Howson will definitely play for England (possibly after he leaves us for somewhere bigger) but that lad is absolutley top class and once he has a few more PL games under his belt I reckon he'll be the fulcrum of our midfield for a while. I think the jury is out still on Johnson although he had a decent game on Monday at Spurs. Good luck for the rest of the season and look forward to having Sndgrass in the Summer!
norfolkbhoy Howsons a good player but hes probably not gonna play any important game for england. He was always going to play well at the start of his career for you, however just you wait to he watches games pass him by and runs around like a headless chicken after the ball! Hes a very good player but cant see him moving any higher than he is now
We'll see - I agree that he is probably keen to impress and it is not right to judge him on the few appearances he has made but he has been superb, particularly considering he has just come back from injury and lacked a bit of match fitness and sharpness and had never played at this level before. No offence but he was probably a bit stymied under the Bates regieme at Leeds and it can't be great to know that your better players are offski as soon as someone gets their cheque book out. I am sure that had Leeds looked like going up either this season or next then he would not have dreamed of coming to Norfolk from Yorkshire and probably would have been a bit more motivated for you.
Boggers, I may be mistaken, but I recall your saying the same thing about Schmeichel, Gradel and Howson. Shortly after you did so each time, the player was on his way. Ler's hope the Boggers Curse does not strike again!
I do think howson stagnated abit and some fresh ideas from lambert will defo benefit him. Thats my honest opinion anyway
norfolkbhoy agree cant be good when other players are leaving but he wasnt even the best player in my year when we where at school lol so can't see him moving to a top premiership side! Had a top class engine on him though
howson reminds me of a young paul scholes. always breaking from midfield and getting into great positions - i've put a bet on him to play for england based on what i've seen so far - he's got that knack that most midfielders don't have of timing his runs to perfection. under lambert's guidance, he currently looks like a £10m player to be honest, and i'm not exaggerating. he totally controls the midfield. cracking player.
It's all about the players around him. If you have a good manager that builds a team in the right way, knowing the way he wants to play, and who only buys or gets hold of players who he knows can play in his team and system, then any and every one of those players will look great because they have a great network of players around them. In the right team, Howson will look like a world beater. Good on him, I wish him the very best
Ken Bates is a fantastic businessman. The ingrate (sic) would have left for nothing at the end of the season. Bates saves us again! Woohoooooooooooooo!!! On the positive side, we saved money by not putting him on the transfer list. Perhaps someone else would have paid more had they known he was available.
i dont see why he cant push on for england honours - playing in the premier league for a footballing team his game should improve...and a new manager, new ideas etc - i'm hopeful lambert will get the best out of him... and i know you all really want to keep hold of snodgrass, i would too - if theres no money, why not take it and hope that warnock can wheel and deal you up next year with the proceeds...
Doubtful he'll play for England while he's at Norwich, the criterea normally involves wearing either Red or Blue to get a game for your country!!
Howson was fantastic last season mainly because we played 4-3-3. With Johnson and Kilkenny doing the defensive duties and other dirty work in midfield Howson could get forward, run at players, shoot. While this season we've played 4-4-2 with Howson and Clayton in midfield so Howson didn't get many opportunities to get forward as much and therefore "stagnated" a bit. Although slightly disappointed with Howson that he left the club, I realize its largely that ****er who shall not be named's fault and I hope Jonny all the best at Norwich.
This is the point most people seem not to get. There is money, quite a lot at this level, but the board doesn't let any of it go to the team. Any money we got from a Snoddy transfer would likely not be reinvested.
wow, based on that whittingham must be worth £16m! http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...rding-to-fourfourtwo-magazine-91466-30741479/
