Fellani only usually starts when there is a clear areal threat from the opposition - I don't know their team that well, but do palace have any particularly skilful players in the air that Fellani could kill.

Fellaini giving LVG his one and only trophy in England ? Although he is nowhere near as skilful as the midfield legends of the past, he provides that nastiness that some of them had. Our other midfielders are just pussies <whistle>

Agreed. A huge part of our success under SAF was Keane - he added the bite and the aggression to an otherwise artful and skillful midfield. None of our present midfield offer the 'hard' option that the other successful sides seem to have - ours seems a bit 'soft'.

I was watching some programme about Dwight Yorke while on the treadmill yesterday. They showed a couple of goals he scored that were assisted by Keane. One a sublime through ball, the other a whipped in cross. Easy to forget what a fantastic footballer Keano was. Everyone remembers him as a midfield battler but he was some ****ing player as well!

Mixing skill with drive and toughness. United could mix it with best of them. Never bullied even by the most physical sides.

If Arsenal had a Keane they would have won several premierships in the last few years. They never replaced Viera and Petit.

Keane was the best midfielder in the world at one point not just because of his football ability but also because of the impact and influence he had on his team and the opposition.

I love that clip of him owning Vieira in the tunnel at Highbury. He'd won the game for us before it had started!

For some reason Keane is now simply deemed to have been a dirty clogger, which is just utter garbage.

He wasn't even that dirty, it's all clouded by the Haaland incident. He could tackle hard and cleanly but was technically superb and highly skilled off both feet. He could do the lot, he is and will remain the best CM we've ever had (never seen Duncan Edwards so can not possibly say but I'd probably stick him at centre half!) and for a three or four year period was the best in Europe.

The bloke was immense. People go on about Paul Scholes but Scholes was the player he was because of who was alongside him.

Who is the current Keane and how do we get hold of him? Or Was he here all along and didn't realise it - Pogba ? <whistle>

Without the confidence that Keane gave our midfield I doubt whether Becks, Giggs or Scholes would have seen anything like the amount of ball that came their way simply as the result of a great tackle and the fantastic distribution skills that Keane had. I think towards the end of his career he began to trade too much on the 'hard-man' side of his game rather than the more skilful side to his game.

If there was anyone like him now in our squad I doubt we would be playing some of the gutless, sideways football that is our hallmark at present. Keane was literally the engine- room of the side, just think back to some of those games - and not all of them massive, important matches, when he tore strips of his team-mates. God knows what he was like in the dressing room. Personally I can't think of anyone like him in the game at present, which is odd when you think that there always seem to be good strikers or defenders on the up somewhere. There are plenty of silky, skilful midfielders around (Modric I would sign in a heartbeat), but none with Keane's combination of skill and steel.

That person doesn't exist, not to my knowledge anyway.

I don't think Pogba is all that to be perfectly honest.
