Morning Everyone, please log in to view this image September 8th 1969 - 27th November 2011 Gone but not forgotten We love you Gary M.O.T Everyone feeling okay? David Haigh is ploughing a six figure sum into the Leeds Utd coffers, which is to be used in the January transfer window. Is this money earmarked to bring Blackstock in permanently? Would we have had an agree price when we took Blackstock on loan, subject to his performance during his loan period? Haigh has also agreed to Chair the Leeds Utd ladies!!! I'm sure the full full dressing room pep talks will go down a treat. Apparently, he is looking for an assistant, any takers? please log in to view this image KEN BATES last night moved to deny “categorically” speculation that he is involved in any of the consortiums bidding to buy Leeds United. The 81-year-old sold the Elland Road club to GFH Capital last December and was removed as honorary president just a few weeks into what should have been three years in the role. He is now embroiled in a legal battle with the United hierarchy which is likely to end in the High Court come the new year. Despite that, several sightings of Bates in Leeds since last Friday – including many outside Elland Road – had sparked a frenzied internet debate among supporters about his possible return. The former United chairman’s friendship with managing director David Haigh, one of the key players in GFH Capital’s purchase of the Championship club, has also added fuel to the rumours, but Bates last night moved to dispel the speculation. Speaking exclusively to the Yorkshire Post, he said: “I am aware of the negotiations taking place between the owners of Leeds United and various consortiums but I can categorically state that I am not part of any of them.
Morning all So this cash? who's is it as I haven't read anything about it. If it's DH's then this must be a loan. Is he just taking credit for it and its actually GFH cash? Hope its not another loan that we need to pay back. The good thing is that it seems our skint owners can see the benefit of investing if it gets you closer to the £100m pot when promoted. The last coont only thought about himself and was the worst businessman ever.
MANAGING director David Haigh has reaffirmed his commitment to Leeds United by ploughing at least £1m into the club. The 36-year-old was a key figure in GFH Capital’s takeover at Elland Road a little under a year ago. In recent weeks, the ownership of United has been thrust back into the spotlight courtesy of a consortium, which includes former defender Lucas Radebe, making a bid for a majority shareholding. The offer, which is understood to have been an initial £7m with further payments scheduled, was immediately rejected.
Morning all. For the moment I don't care where the money is coming from, once its not Bates of course. GFH doing what we all want and investing someones money in the squad to push for promotion. When its all boiled down, it's their club and they're entitled to raise the cash whatever way they want. At last we may have a January to look forward to on the field and that's my main interest. As for Bates categorically denying he has anything to do with any of the takeovers, that pretty much guarantees he is involved. Now for the thorny issue. Does anyone feel a little uneasy at the amount of space dedicated to Gary Speed with tributes. A great player and nice guy but there is a real danger in our society of hero worshipping people unfortunate to have committed suicide. Ive s sen it locally here where a teenager takes their life, and over a year, three or four more from same school follow a similar path. Some "experts" suggest the attention the victim receives encourages others to follow similar path. Just asking the question, not making a judgement
It's been a while since I've commented on here, I apologise for that! Nice to see us doing so well though Interesting what you say about teenagers taking their lives and then more following suit in the ensuing months and years. After a tragedy (ie, the first teenager taking their life) the suicide rates of the local community ordinarily drop right off. After 9/11, the American suicide figures plummeted massively - it would seem that tragedy actually brings people closer together. Terrible to think there are cases where more people commit suicide as a result of one person doing so.
Bates is back to sue the board for not paying him 250k a year as president which Ken slightly goes against what you stated that you didn't take a penny out of the club what a lie that was! What about the flights the hotel bills the meals etc isn't that taking out of the club . Lets hope we win otherwise it will set us back by 1m I reckon this man is the arch enemy of Leeds United
How remiss of me good morning to you all and I am feeling much better today thank you apart from getting my blood pressure up over BATES
Morning all!! Good on Haigh, hopefully McD can strengthen in Jan and set us up nicely for a promotion push.
RIPSpeedo Nice photo of me n the man himself please log in to view this image http://youtu.be/TP5nh4mtdn4 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Morning all. You ungracious barstar£s. All that Lord Ken has done for this club, & he can't help a bit more by being part of this consortium providing more funding. ps: I thought I'd read somewhere that it was a 7 figure sum, thereby making it at least £1m. Hope it is to fund a permanenent move for Blackstock. For me, that would be enough for this season. BMD can then review the situation when various players surplus to requirements leave in May and we know what we will need for next season, either to push for auto or keep us in the PL, depending on what happens between now and May.
Afternoon all, As I've mentioned on another thread, the OS has still not reported on this 'investment'. The other half of the BBC article has been officially confirmed. Smell fishy? Is this truly an 'investment', or simply BBC speculation - which now seems to have become fact to a lot of people without any official statement! Perhaps if the BBC stated that we were signing Ronaldo in January, we'd all believe that too! On the sensitive issue of Gary Speed, I think it's perhaps it's time to let it go. How long should we mourn an idol for? I don't know, but if our mourning period reflected the emotional attachment of the fans and the importance of the deceased to the club, then would it be fair to say that we should still revere Billy & The Don with Speedo-like outpourings. Should I have dared to say this out loud?
