Morning Troops,

Forest Boss Billy Davies has said it would have been a travesty had Leeds got anything out of the match. “The second and the third goals were important. (what game was he watching <doh> ) I don’t think they would have complained had we scored more goals. They should never have got back into the game,” said Davies.

“It would have been a travesty if we had not won. But we got a wonder-strike from Matt Derbyshire and we deserved the win. “I thought we were excellent in the first half, our position play was excellent. But we should have scored another two or three goals. The game should have been dead and buried by half time.

Am I the only one to think his comments are over the top. Apart from the goals, Forest had few shots of target, and those that were, were from range or acute angles that keepers at amateur level would have been expected to save.

Brian McDermott said afterwards that he envied the 'spending power' that his opposite number Billy Davies has. "They have spent a lot of money over the years. Good luck to them."

McDermott then spoke about strengthening his team in the new year “I have spoken to the owners and I have given them four names who I think would be good additions" “Many things are involved. You have to try and do a deal with their club.

"Can we do a deal? Do we have the money? We will see what happens".

“Sometimes, these things happen naturally. Players come in and players go out. That has happened in my first eight months at the club.

“I have never said there is any quick fix. I have always said it will take time. I think the fans appreciate that. The majority, at least.
“We are trying to get there as quickly as we can. There has been a lot of improvement at the club, both on and off the pitch. Vast improvements. But we need to keep that going.”

Meanwhile, the takeover is supposed to be completed 'once the festive period is over'. Lets hope it does not stretch too far into the new year.; We do not want to be left with the scraps, like in years gone past...

We have injury doubts over Kenny and McCormack for our New Years day clash v Blackburn.

With Ashdown injured (recovering from surgery), we have a very inexperienced 20yo Cairns to rely on. McCormack is certainly not replaceable, though suppose we would have to look at either Hunt (back from injury) or Poleon.

Its a shame he ruins his posts with his attitude, as hidden in there are some good points.

I think his intentions are to wind up. I have left the final decision with the Super Mod who will make a decision. I'll keep you all informed

Morning!

I think he says it all there really. How times have we waited and waited and waited for signings. It will probably be like you say Elland we won't be able to make a move until the 'big boys' (QPR and basically any of our promotion rivals) have filled their boots. What also annoys me is this supposed investment was promised before January to be in time for the window..... is anybody surprised that it wont be???

Morning Orion, thats how I read it, but you never know. We know money has been put aside for transfers, but we know Forest, QPR and Bolton will be investing in the New Year

Morning all. If McCormack is injured, this has to present either Poleon or more to the point Hunt with an opportunity to ste up using the 352 formation. Hopefully Mowatt & Byram will both start & we can show that we can cope without Ross. For those that were there, how did Aniyibi get on?

Morning folks even though it all seems a bit flat after yesterdays result.

Firstly that coont Davies wants fooking up the arse as he's a gobshyte. Yes in the first half the trees made us look stupid, but we were taking over in the 2nd half and could have won it. A draw would have been a fairer result.

Although I feel more optimistic than I have for a few years, I'm frustrated as hell because there are times when i think we've cracked it and are on a roll. Only to see a bunch of garbage results (2 points from 9) 2 of those games should have been bankers and a draw against the trees should have meant 7 from 9 and moving up the play-off league.

Derby not spent much but have a manager who has obviously motivated them. On this form they will go up. Burnley may slip back but should end up in play-offs and Harry needs to kick on because he's in danger of falling back into the pack. Harry will be a big spender though so should go up auto. Foxes spent money and reaping the rewards another who should go close.

We dont have the fire power of these teams although Derby and Burnley should not be any stronger than us?????

Reading need to do something or Adkins will look a fool and BMD would love to be ahead of Reading. Wigan will come on strong now under Rosler and expect them in the play-offs because they have parachute payments and a good squad.

We have stagnated. Byram not playing?, Mowatt rested? We need something ....

Morning Boggers, I was on twitter last night, and Ross posted he was going to bed, as he had to be up for training early. He can't be that bed (thankfully). Aniyibi had pace, a couple of decent touches, got caught in possession a few times by Reid and Lichaj going forward.

Morning Doc, Didn't see any signs of injury from Byram when he came on in the second half, and helped set up our goal

Potentially good news on Ross, but doesn't take away from the need to find a strike partner for him similar to Blackstock. Smith is decent, but is likely to have more of an impact off the bench. Good news about Aniyibi. Maybe we can move to 442 with Byram or Pugh behind Aniyibi & 3 others in midfield - from Austin, Murphey, Mowatt, Tonge. Anyone I've missed?

Morning all. Thoroughly disappointing Xmas results have now put real pressure on gfh to come up with the goods for the first time. Up to now they've gotten away lightly with the odd new contract and a handful of average signings. They've said in January there will be a transfer kitty and coupled with McD wish list, they must now deliver quality. It will take some special signings to lift us from being an average outfit. Obviously my judgement is confined to live TV games. I have to be honest and say most of what I've seen this season is fairly poor entertainment

If I have my "glass half empty" head on we are further ahead than we should be as most of us expected a mid-table finish.

"Glass half full" head says we should be closer to the top than we are. For weeks we've been 9-points of the top but slipping further back ....

Don't think GFH have anything to do with new players now as it seems the deal should be completed shortlky for DH to take over the club and put some cash into BMD's transfer kitty. He has named 4 players but does that mean he wants all 4 or any 2 of 4? Good wingers are exiting to watch and they tie up defenders so that space is created. I watched the young Cardiff kid Noon and he was the best player on the park. IS he the same player who Brighton had? Yesterday Reid made all the running for Forest also Burke scored for Brum.

I feel we need at least one winger who has quality similar to Gradels and also a striker who can score goals

Watched the match live out here and BMD has a lot of fixing to do, we were very poor and they were not much better.

The thing that puzzles me is BMD seems to keep players on the pitch who are injured? Wooton was crocked at Charlton, kept him on for over 15mins and proberbly aggrevated the injury more, Kenny was not moving freely!! so is Cairns that poor? and if so why is he on the bench?? that young lads confidence and passion for the club he plays for will have been dealt a severe blow seeing Kenny limping around and not asked to replace him, i may be missing something, and if i am please someone enlighten me................MOT

Morning all - Personally I thought watching the first half it was like watching two teams from different divisions, us being the lower one, there was a massive difference when it came to the quality of football on show. It wasn't helped by players like Brown giving away pointless free kicks with his silly tackles. I think you have to honestly say had the roles been reversed we would have felt it a travesty too.

I truly believe this season (in the managers eyes) was about building for next, we have exceeded all expectations by being in a top 6 spot come Christmas day and we suddenly start to believe maybe it isn't that bad. A performance like that against Forest shows us what we are lacking and hopefully in January the manager can get two of his targets, let us hope they are more like Zaliukas and less like Morrison in what they can contribute.

I'm a big fan of BMD but recent results are making me question why? I see poor teams like Middelsboro and Wigan and Derby and Burnley change manager and their fortunes. Rosler is adding something at Wigan and they already had a good squad who played in the prem. Derby were an average side who are now by far the best footballing side in the league. Midds were garbage but their last 2 results are stunning and they will rise up the league. Has our manager already acheived more because our players are shyte? Or are the players now letting him down. Too many times this season we have seen a massive gulf in class between us and some teams. We've also seen worse teams than us get a result against us because we've not been consistent.

Either way I wish I was enjoying the same as Derby fans or the long suffering Burnley fans who have loved it since Dyche took over. We know we can't compete with QPR cash or the money Forest and Leicester have spent, but Ipswich are chasing under MaCarthy who has no cash and good managers can get something extra from players?
