Morning Troops, First match of the season saw Leeds crush Division 1 Shrewsbury 4-0 at Elland Road in front of just over 18,000 fans. The Shrews were unlucky not to score on a couple of occasssions and had 7 corners to our 2, but I supposwe its goals that matter, so we progress to the second Round. Interestingly when Lees go injured in the warm up, Peltier moved to centre back and Byram came on, and, the youngster (again) did well... Midway through the second half Diouff came off to.... lets say a mixed reception. According to many sources although he never got into any dangerous positions, he never gave the ball away once.. First detate today. Diouff wants to wear the Leeds shirt (Snodds didn't), should be boo him for whats happened in the past? Ross has finally been called up to the Scottish squad. Can only be good for the lad, and should up his confidence... Who watch the closing ceremony of the olympics, who else feels proud. Anyone think its a waste of money??? Many sources (not boab ) are saying the takeover is very much on the cards again. Could we be seeing 'takeover Tuesdays' ???
Morning Well first of all I will wait until after the first 5 to 10 games before making my mind up about the team, let it gel and all that. I see the Shrewsbury game as a preseason game. We will have a real test when we take one Wolves in the first game next weekend No don’t think he should be booed. I don’t like what he has done in the past, but I’m willing to give the man a chance. And booing will not only affect him but the rest of the team in a negative way to That is great news for Ross and can only do him good. And it was about time him got it If what he did after scoring the penalty, signing his hand to the fans, is anything to go bye. Then I think he has or are going to sign a new contract at Leeds No did not see the closing ceremony, did not see the opening either. And yes I do think it is a waste of money. I have to admit that I don’t think there is going to be a takeover. The only thing the club has said is it was an investment. So until I see any news on the official website of Leeds I want believe anything
Good to see you are having a conversation with yaself elland. I'm keeping my hand firmly down though on the match-thread front. Its too much effort and I have to be in the mood for it Morning btw
I'll start match threads again if needed. Getting really excited for the season starting again. For the closing ceremony,it was brilliant in my opinion. Although Jessie J needs shooting for ruining Queen. Thought The Who and Muse were brilliant aswell
ellandback, morning Are you working on your Norwegian? I'm in the north of Norway. Well yes I really hope so to mate
Morning all Could be the start of a great week for Ross then, international call up and signing a new contract with us! I did watch the closing ceremony and while it felt a bit like live aid on crack I thought we did a pretty decent job of it. Yeah it cost a lot of money, but I think it raised the public spirit endlessly (the games, not the closing ceremony) and The Who were excellent, and as a Monty Python fan, also thought Eric Idle was great. I'm trying desperately to stand by my position of not even considering that the takeover could be on again, because even though I was expecting it I was gutted when the news came through that it was off. This way, if it does happen I can be happy! (The reality is as soon as a strong rumour comes through, I'll be back there pinning my hopes on the line again!)
Morning all Cant see the sense of booing anyone wearing our colours, how the hell is that going to help any of us? Give the lad a chance and get behind him if he ****s up most of you have already reserved the right to judge so let him know what you think then. Went to Hyde park Saturday and can truly say I have never been so sun burnt in my life but there were some amazingly fit birds there and my youngest asked Geoff Hurst a question so he was made up Obviously didnt get to the game, what was everyones thoughts on the match?
Well a wins a win I suppose, but a pre season warm up only for us. Next is Wolves and that will be a whole new problem because they'll either be shocking, or prove to be one of the favourites this season. Spit the dog shouldn't be bood until he does something wrong at the club. Lets wait and see because he could be a key player or a huge mistake, but wait and see. As for this damn takeover, everyones sick to death of it now. Bates must have been playing a game which seems to have worked, if the potential buyers are back at the table. Bates will not go easily or cheaply and will hang on until he gets exactly what he wants. So it will be over quickly, or it will go through in the next week or so, because they must be at the final hurdle now after this long.
Morning Peeps! I hope everyone is good! I hated 'Spit the Dog' as much as I hate Barton, King etc and wouldn't have wanted him in a Leeds shirt. These types of players should not be allowed to play professional football in my opinion... it's not a given right to be in that position. I'm all for giving people second chances but after abusing his position in professional football (multiple times), what's wrong with him having his second chance working at McDonalds or KFC? He's blown it with football now imo. That's a whole seperate debate though and one which has to be actioned top down! That said, it's done now, I believe he is/can be a good player (attitude aside) and I will reserve my judgement until he does something stupid here. When that time comes then fans can berate him to the hill but until then I'm taking the stance that we should support him like any other Leeds player. I'm not happy but I don't blame Warnock, he had little option and I think if he applies himself right, he can be a quality player. That's my opinion anyway... I've been taken aback by the infighting and belittling on here recently so I'm hoping that ceases! Edit: I can't type today so can the spelling police not hound me please!?
Morning Bucks, Glad Hyde Park went well Geoff Hurst, WOW.... 4-0 is still 4-0. Wish we had kept the ball more and dominated. Glad our defence held out....
Cant believe ther isnt a more positive reaction to our 4 0 win Saturday. Dread to think what some would have been saying had we lost. Is it the take over ****e that has most feeling so lethargic or the past 7 years of you know who. Im refusing to use his name until he is gone in one shape or the other
To be fair while it is only shrewsbury we beat, we can only beat who is infront of us and the result was a good result. It is right that we shouldn't get carried away but I am happy about the way we went about things
Yep, totally agree with this. We scored 4 goals and while it might have been against some pretty poor and shaky defending / goalkeeping it's still 4 goals. That has to be good for the confidence of the team going forward.
