Good game fellas, you weren't messing around when you said you couldn't play the same for two halves <laugh>. Credit Bale for the lack of the celebration and a mention must go to sandro for taking a shot to the face.

Sandro's a Terminator, sent back from the year 2029 to kill Terry Connor and prevent Wolves from being ****e. We've reprogrammed him.

Stick with Adkins, sort your defence out in January and you'll be ok. <ok>
Played some decent stuff and had a good 2nd half, though you'll excuse me if I'm quite critical of our lot for their contribution to that.

It was a nerve wracking second half and credit to your lot for not giving up although so much of it was self inflicted from our poorness.

  5. I think we ran out of steam in the second half, with the European travel and game-play taking its toll on us.

We're going to need tense wins like these, if we are to finish 4th and play a strong side in the Europa League.

It was a good game and apart from your crap traffic system round your ground which means access to the M3 is a bigger challenge than climbing Everest, I enjoyed my afternoon.

No disrespect, but if you perform like you did in the 1st half, then you will be relegated before Christmas. But credit to you for the second half. Your fans decided to get behind the team and you played with a lot of spirit and made a game of it. I am not convinced our manager was wise with his subs, as I thought when Huddlestone went off, we lost some of our fluidity and it handed you the initiative.

I hope you stay up, but I fear it's a long winter ahead for you.

    <ok>.

Southampton are a team which normally stays in the top flight for a few years after promotion,I can't remember you ever going down after just one season before so history is on your side. As Original posts though,a long winter ahead. Well done on a close run thing.

Cheers and good luck, TTSF (except for one game.) I really think you'll be okay, because you can score, and if you can score you should be able to get enough wins to stay up. Seems to me relegated teams more often can't do much but scrape draws. You'll need to sort your defending, but I think you're going to win two or three in a row at some point, and that'll turn the tide. Keep Adkins, even though he had it wrong in the first half. I knew that because I was just about not a nervous wreck for once, which is a sure sign the other team is doing absolutely nothing.

    Nice sig TTSF :D

Didn't catch the game, went to the pub and watched Chelsea vs Clattenberg instead. Surprised Bale didn't even allow himself a baby craddle celebration though.

Was my first time at St Mary's, glad we got the result but we were so sloppy in the second half. I'm not saying it was entirely down to us because you guys did play some really good football at times but we just became so slack it was annoying to watch, I don't know why AVB can't get them to play good in BOTH halves but if you guys had a little more luck or a tad more potency, we could well have left with 1 or even 0 points yesterday. Good game for neutrals though, first half was all us and 2nd all you.

Sort your defence out in Jan and I reckon you'll have a good chance of staying up - a common problem amongst newly promoted teams is not properly adjusting to the league, alot tend to stick by their players as a reward for promotion and that's admirable but you have to be strict and realise that there's a ridiculously big gap between the Prem and Championship, therefore investment in better quality is a must providing the funds are there ofcourse - and you'll be fine. You've got a good manager, Lambert can trouble any defence and Rodriguez is still learning the game, the midfield can never be too good but you do have a decent one (we pretty much change ours every year <laugh>) but your defence just looks way too easy to beat.

    Very true, SoS.
As a lot of teams have found out, those minor mistakes at the back that you can get away with against most Championship sides tend to get ruthlessly punished in the Prem.
You can have a bad 5 minutes and concede repeatedly, getting left with no way back.
