It is amazing how many boards have an enthusiastic start but quickly fade away... some have no comments in the last 3 years!!! or maybe just a " anyone out there" comment from a passing alien! this time last season we had a pretty good "feel good factor" board not just because the team was winning but quite a lot of involvement with compo's involvement posts etc One bad day/[week] and there was a capitulation and interest and enthusiasm evaporated in / on our board .. without going into fine detail … since that day posters are less and compo participation is less, the 2 did seem to go hand in hand as doing the compo would "encourage" a look at the board when doing your entry .. and maybe comment or post. A tea break nowadays is a very short affair, as reading, posts and any replies can usually be done in one sitting as opposed to 3 or 4. thanks goes to WIZ for his tireless trolling of info, and its a pity the Evil post WITH ITS "poor" at times presentation is the main thing he has to work from, but a sterling job …………. and POETIC licence by him should not be confused with " I didn't see that ..or " without his posts we would be one of the poorest boards on n606
For those that are interested I visit the board at least once a day and can't help but notice that many times nobody has visited the site since my previous visit. Several years ago when accessing the site the response during my absence was quite large and I wonder why this apathy, or lack of interest, has happened. Has the advent of other more acceptable social media sites been our downfall. or have the fortunes of Bristol City been our demise? How do we create more interest, and hopefully more participation on 606, which is primarily football based with some detours in to other areas of discussion and keep it alive and prospering? I have noticed that we rarely venture in to the areas of social interest anymore and some of those posts received major response and open discussion which often contained 2 or 3 pages of print. I don't think we can expect our part of 606 to thrive only when the team is doing well and those that were around when Lee was hired will understand what I am trying to say here, and incidentally the slow decline in posting has become more evident since he took the helm. Today's social media world changes by the second and I see that when I try to get friends and family to contact me via Skype and they tell me I am living in the past and to get a life. If that life has to include having some travelling social media device in front of my face to make all my decisions 24 hours a day then bollocks to that world. Does the world need some fake intelligence to run our lives or can we regain the right to do our own thing without being told you are living in the dark ages? Unfortunately the demise of sites like not606 is down to the apathy that pervades our world when people just can't be arsed to actually do something for themselves without the assistance of some "smart" device and I can't see that changing anytime soon and so we keep ploughing the furrow and hope our followers will find our efforts worthy of support. To all those who have visited our site over the years I urge you to return and rejoin us before the brilliant people who have run this site over the same years may decide it is just not worth the effort, and even if you give some feedback as to what might attract you and others back to this forum. You know you want it! P.S. Seeing as many people can't react to anything other than a reminder from their "device" why can't someone do a blitz campaign through something like that, after all it got Trump elected, as long as it isn't fake news.
the "apathy" started on ground zero day …. and yep like you when visting the board 4 or so times a day there was loads to read arguments to follow opinions stated and challenged maybe we need to get down in the bottom 2 ?
I don’t know the answer , but you are right , I visit the site many times during the day and it’s noticeable it’s quieter than it used to be. There are one or two posters , without whom the site would most likely die a death , you know who you are , and personally I’m extremely grateful to you. I don’t do other social media so I’m not in a position to comment , but I’d imagine it’s responsible on the whole for the slow down in interest and posts to a large degree, the lack of younger contributors on here seems to back this up. If it’s possible it may be worth asking members that have stopped posting why they have and if there is anything that can be done for them to become more active again? It’s still the best City site there is , with the best posters and amongst the best used ones too . If LJ wasn’t doing such a good job I’m sure the site would become much more active , so it’s all Lee’s fault.
