I have followed Hull City since 1946 and I have never known us to have such an unlucky season as this one. I am not going to harp on about injuries and our strikers 'firing blanks' as this has been well documented on these boards. We have lost many points in the dying minutes of the game and, imo, have rarely got the 'run-of-the-ball', so vital in close football matches. Loose balls invariably seem to go to the opposition. That final pass just failing to split the defence. Goalkeepers playing blinders against us. The last couple of games where Brady hit the bar twice and Jelly hit the post and we come away pointless. In contrast, Sunlun get two penalties and two absurd deflections and come away with 6 points leaving us in big trouble. We have had more than our fair share of bad luck this season and it most certainly would not surprise me to see us play a blinder against Man U next week and come away with the three points only to see Newcastle and Sunlun win too. Should we finish up in the second tier next season most people are expecting a 'fire sale' but I don't think this will be as bad as it might seem. There will be offers for some of our players like Chester, Robertson, N'Doye, Hernandez and perhaps Brady and Elmo but I cannot see there being a mass exodus. I don't believe Jelly will get a better offer and his wonky knee won't help. The same with Diame. We will probably be looking for another Goalkeeper. Maguire and Ince will surely be brought back. I don't know who's contracts are up but I would imagine that Harper and Sagbo will not be offered new ones. We will probably be looking for another Fraizer Campbell on loan as we try to cut costs as well as another striker for support. Aluko could play a big part in the Championship. Huddlestone, Quinn and Meyler should also get their names on the starting line-up along with Rosenior, Davies, Dawson and McShane. We also have Snodgrass yet to show us what he can do. I also don't think we will get a better Manager than Steve Bruce and whereas his face says it all for me I don't think he is a quitter. Back to the drawing board although we still have the merest of chances to stay where we are.
There are a number of "Name Change' threads on these boards - why did you post this here? For the record, I am 'on the fence' because I live in a Country where these "Club Nick-names" have become part of the game. Australian Rules team Melbourne are known as "The Dees" (which is D for Devil), Richmond as "The Tigers", Collingwood as "The Maggies (Magpies for their Black and White strip) and the Rugby Teams are barely recognizable with names like "The Rabbitohs", "Storm", "The Eels" etc., etc. But, I respect the feelings of those who do not wish to change the name.
Well, I could start with Hernandez (Argentine for 'Not a Strikers @rsehole) and the glaring miss that Proschwitz would have had great difficulty in missing - but I won't!
