Do you remember that nut who convinced his followers to kill themselves on the premise that a spaceship was following the Halle-Bop comet, and that they would transcend their bodies and be given new forms by these aliens ? I was at university at the time and remember seeing that comet, looking motionless in the sky, but actually hurtling through space at thousands of miles per hour.
Ha no. But honestly mate, if you have never watched the Jonestown thing, it's really ****ed.. Over 900 didn't just kill themselves.. Some had a change of heart and were just shot dead anyway. #cultlife
Just been reading up on it. It kicked off because a US congressman turned up with some concerned family members of the cult victims and journalists. They were 'escorted' everywhere around the camp under the disguise everything was ok. However, some members had asked to be taken back to the US, so when the congressman returned back to the plane with the concerned families, jouno's and 'defectors', it was decided they knew too much so were blasted to death. The cult leader then knew it wouldn't be long before the American military turned up, or parachuted in as was his fear, that's when the so called suicide pact commenced.
