No, whos that soon to be dead along with his entire family leader of Iran called again. Armasomething
so its not in publications like New Scientist? Scientific output has grown 11 times faster in Iran than the world average, faster than any other country. A survey of the number of scientific publications listed in the Web of Science database shows that growth in the Middle East – mostly in Turkey and Iran – is nearly four times faster than the world average. Science-Metrix, a data-analysis company in Montreal, Canada, has published a detailed report (PDF) on "geopolitical shifts in knowledge creation" since 1980. "Asia is catching up even more rapidly than previously thought, Europe is holding its position more than most would expect, and the Middle East is a region to watch," says the report's author, Eric Archambault. World scientific output grew steadily, from 450,000 papers a year in 1980 to 1,500,000 in 2009. Asia as a whole surpassed North America last year.
11 times faster and these countries oppression is not always religious based what about sanctions? what about 'bullying'? etc
New Scientist History is a huge insight into a countries current position imo If a country is at war for 10 years then their advancements will be limited, not due to religion 0r politics but simply because they are playing 'catch up' etc
It was a study conducted by Web of Science, a research website and I believe the study was run by Jim Al-Khalili, an Iraqi quantum physicist. He was definitely called upon to discuss it, anyway. Because they're starting from miles behind everyone else and a lot of focus has been put into advancing their nuclear program, which is reflected in the nature of the published papers. I didn't say that it was always based upon religious oppression.
I already gave you the source and a quote earlier. there was no mention of an Iraqi. doesnt mean it wasnt replicated by an iraqi etc The miles behind notion is not necessarily down to religion or religious oppression. as explained. a good example will be afghanistan if lasting peace ever prevails. simply due to decades of war and the need for baiscs and necesseties outweighing science and research The leading 'producer' of scientists of all fields is probably the USA. But a closer inspection of the figures will show that the USA not only 'poaches' talent but a lot of its PHD science students are actually foreign, on short term visas Further inspection shows a lot from middle eastern countries as well as India Pakistan etc. Muslims make up a decent number
You're only providing more evidence for what I've said. Why do these presumably capable and intelligent students have to go to a secular country to study?
and universities in places like egypt produce far far more engingeers and doctors than their own economy can handle
His name is President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Have you ever seen pictures of him? I don't know if the photographers are being unkind but he always looks like he is taking a sh*t in his pants while pointing in the air. Dresses like a tramp too. But he speaks very highly of me though.
secular has nothing to do with it for me. Reason being that secular country students also do the same. Often its to do with the institution rather than other issues. some students are state sponsored Once achieving their qualifications many return, some dont but this is as much to do with financial reasons as any thing else The point being that there is no oppression or barrier to work/study science as often seems to be the suggestion
PS its no different to capable and intelligent non muslim western engineers working in saudi arabia/Iraq/Dubai/Libya or any other 'non secular' country
That's work, not study. People will always follow the money. Do you honestly believe that Khomeini's rule didn't have a negative impact upon Iran's scientific studies?
