Do you think it would make the game better if it automatically counts as a goal conceded if a team is on the receiving end of 5 yellow cards in a game? One part of me would hate to win, or lose a game under that sort of situation- but I think it would help prevent scenarios like we witnessed today where a team is told to go out and commit violence rather than play the game. If teams knew there were more at stake than a meaningless yellow for acts of thuggery- would they be more likely to try and play the game within the rules that is prescribed? I think another advantage of such a scenario is there will be fewer "soft" yellow cards given by refs too. Part of me hates that a ref could literally win the game for a team- but at the same time- mornings like today was not football. It was some strange blend of football and kickboxing. I want to watch the beautiful game- today's game- to give it a personna was John Terry drunk- dressed in drag.
Honestly, no. I probably wouldn't have posted this... I might have still agreed with it if someone suggested the idea- but if there was no "problem" I wouldn't have looked for a solution. I don't like that teams go out there threatening the well-being of other players and potentially causing injury just because it is "there way of playing". Luckily we didn't appear to take any injury from that game- but what if Allen, or Suarez were injured for the rest of the year because of a stupid challenge? I think we all want to watch football? So yes, because there is a problem- I look for a solution.
I would rather refs took a more aggressive stance against diving- even against our own players. I do not want to see Suarez rolling around when he is barely clipped. Honestly, I would be happy if he got carded everytime he simulates. Maybe it would teach him not to- and then we would get the calls when he really is fouled- which we never seem to.
I think that most neutrals would agree that "Stoke" and "football" in the same sentence is an oxymoron. They are truly a dreadful team.
In all fairness though they play to their strengths they know thay are not Barcelona so play to nick wins etc and the truely dreadful team are above Liverpool In the league so perhaps Liverpool should play to their strengths ??
Threads like this really do make me wonder which planet Lfc fans live on. Next the OP will be saying any team that go all game without making a single tackle should automatically win a game.
What would happen is you'd end up with both teams on 4 yellows in a big game, and the ref would either not dare give a 5th to either side, or be immediately looking to even it up should he have given a 5th to one side.
Joke, mate. Hence the I don't think it's a very good idea either tbh, but I'd have been gentler about it.
Damn, I thought I had popped on under the influence and had a great idea I then forgot about. Its a really terrible idea tbh, football would be doomed
~I think most people would really want the referee to do the job they are paid for... namely not trying to just do enough to get to the second half of the game then throw a few yellows about. If mason had have played each foul as it came and told shawcorss to stop running 30 yards to get in his face he'd have booked the stoke players in the first half and incidents like the proessional foul huth committed would not happen. equally if he'd done his job he'd have books suarez and gotten him a one match ban... which he is due. Oh and for UIR... isn't is funny how your filthy cheating team got a ref dropped to league two then had amazingly howard webb and his "wonder team" to give newcastle a right doing... co-inkydink... hmmmm just like how a manc mouth turns up on a thread on lfc board eh?
Yeah, because everyone is really endorsing this idea 100% FWIW I think it's a stupid idea - refs need to really watch & somehow interpret what they are seeing on the pitch and apply the already written laws of the game It's not rocket science.
But you'd also get much more Barcelona-esque crowding the ref and demanding cards. You'd also encourage gamesmanship in the last few minutes - if a team is defending a one goal lead with four yellow cards and a couple of minutes on the clock, then anyone who makes a bad tackle would just get up and punch the bloke they tackled to avoid getting cautioned and thus 'conceding' a goal. Also, no one likes to see a game decided by a refereeing decision, which is ultimately what this proposal would cause in a large number of games. Who wins a game should be decided by an absolute factor - goals are either scored or missed - and not by the opinion of the referee. A fairer system might be that if a team accumulates five or more yellows in a game then all the players booked must serve a one match suspension in one of the next three games.
