Obviously we have chesny as first choice but beyond that I'm not confident about Fabianski who will probably leave in any case. Martinez has quite a lot of potential and usually I would say give him a chance but goalkeeping is a position which requires some experience so I would buy some back up. The only problem with that is chesny is so young it won't be easy finding someone willing to be backup to him and have experience. We have been linked with jack butland from Birmingham who has also (like chesny) got experience on loan at league one and earned rave reviews so is wouldn't mind going for him though what does everyone here think.
i think an older, experienced goalkeeper who has played at top level and is still good enough to come in and do a job, but will mostly be on the bench. their experience can help teaching szczesny, and they can have some cup games and stuff as well. not quite sure who though.
thats the point though which experienced goal keeper would be willing to play second fiddle to a twenty year old chesny (sorry cant be bothered spelling his name!)
Before Sczezny consolidated his place, Fabianski had actually been playing well. Yes, we saw how poor he was, but in the last few games before his injury he was much more dominant in the box, he had beefed up, and looked a quality keeper. Most people don't remember this because it was so short term. They remember the bad times that came before. Anyway, he's a good keeper who got really unlucky with that injury. I would rather not sell him.
ive seen fabianski recently and though he has'nt conceded because of it he has been his usual self when it comes to dealing with crosses especially in the fa cup against aston villa. Even if we deem him good enough i doubt he'll be willing to spend more time on the bench
Wenger actually rates Fabianski above Szczesny in terms of goalkeeping ability. It's just his total lack of mental strength that has cost him a first team place.
did he say it explicitly? Even if he did i find it hard to believe he actually means it though you can never be sure when it comes to wenger.
