We’ve still got Seesay, so with Frankie still 4 keepers at the club. I’ve not seen Seesay but reading some comments on OTIB by a well known poster who used to be from this site whose seen him, is rating him high. We wanted the lad from Man Utd who was on loan to Shrewsbury but Man Utd signing him on for longer then scuppered that one. And at that point we didn’t want to loan we wanted to buy a keeper to challenge FF or even release him. There was a plan B and plan C but they have not materialised so having Mäenpää on trial has been a good plan so far. Before someone mentions Steele, he was on a years contract and DID not want to extend so carry on beating LJ and the club up if you want but you’re really wasting time and breath on it. We are rumoured to be looking into Ruddy, plus LJ’s target of Connor Ripply has just been rumoured back onto the market so who knows? The transfer window don’t actually close till next week and we all know the dominoes fall into place then, as premiership teams decide their squads. Then if nothing is sorted we could loan up until the end of August so no need to panic just yet.
I was one of the people that raised the Luke Steele situation, I think it was a valid point and LJ admitted it was down to him, as was reported. No one is beating LJ up but he is prone to **** things up and it's worth highlighting now and again. ' We asked the head coach why Steele had left the Robins and whether the former Barnsley keeper had made that decision himself. "No, it was my decision. I'm not saying that it was necessarily a good decision in hindsight, because Luke Steele's a really good goalkeeper and more importantly an unbelievable fellow," said Johnson. "But obviously we've got a style of play and Luke's a very good goalkeeper but originally we wanted to sign somebody that we could nurture and potentially improve the value of whether that be at this football club and taking us forward or one that we can, with a very good goalkeeper coach, improve his qualities. And build assets for the football club. "And that was really why Luke Steele didn't have his option retained. And it certainly wasn't a slur on his personality or his character," said Johnson.' https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ws/lee-johnson-admits-hindsight-would-1852113
Me too. I haven’t got time to trawl the internet to try and find the source - it may even have been simply on a forum, so fair enough Wiz - your evidence proves me wrong. Bad judgement by LJ then - unless something was in the pipeline that fell through. Analysing LJs words he seems to be saying that he hoped that Steele would be able to take over from Frankie one day, but that hope didn’t materialise so he had to go. He also admits it was possibly a mistake. Good luck to Steele - I like him.
I genuinely expressed a valid point of veiw, It was an article in the Bristol Post that I had read, I don't have the time to trawl through the internet neither, there was a genuine discussion about Steele, I just added my own contribution, simple as that. Good luck to LJ and Bristol City FC this season.
I didn’t intend my comment to be any criticism of you mate - I have just been proved wrong with something I believed because I read it somewhere but don’t have time to find out where Absolutely no issue with your posts or opinions - this or any of them.
