He was a brilliant drummer. Ginger,Jack Bruce and Clapton were the best group of their time, the ultimate supergroup IMHO.

Go Go's Newcastle, we were the only two people at the bar at the time, he walked in and ordered a coke asked if I wanted one and I said yes, lucky escape, but he just took a swig, not a swing, and left without another word. saw Jack Bruce a year or two later up the road at an all night Uni do in Newcastle with three of four bands playing simultaneously in different rooms, just about everybody who was anybody was there, an amazing night, but never saw Clapton play, though I was told they played the Cellar club in South Shields. very early on, in fact I was never much of a Cream fan tbh. strange brew.

Can't argue with that. I never saw creme play, only heard them on recordings. Lot of good stuff around in those days, live music was at its zenith imo and they were up their with the best.

I posted a link on here to that docu/movie a few years ago, that link probably nesting somewhere in the forum archive, (if it still works) the film shows his crack-brained combative personality - clearly showed that he was 'mad as a box of frogs', he's autobiography 'Hellraiser' is good read.

If anyone wants to watch it go to youtube and type in 'Beware Of Mr Baker'. It's and hour and a half long but a great watch.

Cream shaped the music of my youth and onward into heavy rock, purple, zeppelin, Sabbath, brilliant such great memories. Sad loss, not the person but the era he shaped.rip.
